With the professional knowledge of thyroid disease having reached a high level in recent years, modern people have attached more and more importance to thyroid disease, and many people have "self-diagnosed" thyroid disease. According to current statistics, thyroid disease has become a common disease. The probability of thyroid disease has also increased due to stress, long hours, and irritating diet. There is also a protrusion below the Adam's apple. There is a protrusion under the Adam's apple, which may be a protrusion of the annular cartilage. This is a normal condition. There is a protrusion under the larynx, which may be swelling of the thyroid cyst. It may be simple thyroid enlargement or nodular thyroid enlargement. It may also be a benign or malignant tumor of the thyroid cyst, which requires further clarification by thyroid color Doppler ultrasound and thyroid hormone test. If necessary, fine needle aspiration of the thyroid tumor should be performed under the correct guidance of B-ultrasound, and sent for pathological examination to confirm benign or malignant changes before further treatment. The mass or swelling of the thyroid cyst can usually move left and right with swallowing, which can be distinguished from other masses. What symptoms does an enlarged thyroid gland cause? (1) Shortness of breath It is more common, especially in patients with mass-type thyroid enlargement. If the bronchus is compressed, there will be symptoms of shortness of breath on movement. When the mass is too large, it can cause the bronchus to move, bend or narrow, thus causing more serious breathing difficulties. (ii) Dysphagia Pressure on the esophagus can cause dysphagia. This is rare and only occurs when the glands extend between the esophagus and the bronchi, or when there is a malignant change. This often presents as a persistent dysphagia. (III) Blood accumulation in the face and neck Adenopathy often causes stress on large blood vessels, most commonly the cervical veins, which results in blood accumulation in the face and neck. If the glandular ducts swell and extend behind the sternum, the large veins are usually compressed. If the superior vena cava is compressed, the blood flow back to the head and neck veins is blocked, which can cause facial edema, cervical varicose veins, edema of the chest skin and arms, and significant varicose veins. (IV) Change in tone When the recurrent laryngeal nerve is stressed, irritative symptoms such as hoarseness in the throat and spasmodic cough often occur at first. When the recurrent laryngeal nerve becomes numb, more serious hoarseness and loss of voice are likely to occur. (V) Changes around the eyes When the central nervous system in the neck is stressed, the pupil will dilate in the same direction. If the nerves are severely compressed and numb, the eyes will be sunken and the eyelids will droop. The pupil will shrink. |
