There are two testicles in a man's scrotum, so for men, this is the lifeblood and needs to be protected. However, some male friends do have problems with their scrotums, such as feeling the scrotum is particularly wet or itchy from time to time. In such cases, it is generally a manifestation of disease. So, what is the matter with the red and itchy testicles? Types of scrotal skin diseases (1) Scrotal eczema: The lesions are mostly confined to the scrotum, sometimes extending to the skin around the perineum and anus, and rarely involving the penis. There are usually two types: exudative and dry. The exudative type has edematous swelling, accompanied by erosion, exudation, scabs, and occasional cracks. The dry type has rough and dry skin, deep lines, hard skin, and increased pigmentation, which may be accompanied by skin atrophy or the appearance of hypopigmented spots. The local itching is unbearable, especially during leisure time and at night. The course of the disease can last for several months or even years. (2) Scrotal ringworm: It is a fungal infection, often spread from tinea cruris, and sometimes affects the skin of the perineum, buttocks and pubic area. The rash has clear boundaries and often has fine scales on the surface. In the early stage, it is related to the climate, often occurring or aggravated in summer and relieved or cured in winter. Such long-term recurrence causes the skin to thicken, increase pigmentation, and deepen skin lines, which is very similar to chronic eczema. However, typical tinea cruris is often present near the rash. (3) Scrotal scabies nodules: caused by infection with scabies mites. If there is a history of scabies infection, dark red nodules the size of soybeans or even broad beans, slightly protruding from the skin surface, will appear on the scrotal skin. The surface is relatively smooth, the boundaries are clear, the number can be more or less, but they do not fuse together, and the area is extremely itchy. (4) Riboflavin deficiency: Most patients live in a group life. Riboflavin deficiency may be caused by eating habits, gastrointestinal dysfunction, increased labor intensity or insufficient nutrition. Some are also accompanied by glossitis, cheilitis and angular cheilitis. Scrotal rashes are mostly symmetrically distributed on both sides of the midline of the scrotum. In the early stage, they are mild erythema with a diameter of about 2 to 4 cm and clear edges. Later, the surface is covered with gray-white scales, and there are multiple layers of silver-white scales on the slightly red base, occasionally with a slight itching sensation. |
