The affected area is extremely itchy, the course is long-lasting, and it recurs repeatedly. It is difficult to cure. This disease can be acute or chronic. The acute stage is equivalent to the "erosive type" and the chronic stage is equivalent to the "dry type". This disease is more common in summer.

Scrotal eczema has a variety of symptoms such as erythema, papules, blisters, erosion, exudation, and scabs on the scrotal skin. The patient feels burning and itching. Acute swelling or erosion often occurs due to scratching or washing with hot water. The course of this disease is long, and repeated attacks make the skin thick, rough, and pigmented.

Tinea cruris is a condition in which annular erythema appears on the scrotal skin, with scaling and severe itching. Patients often also suffer from tinea pedis (commonly known as foot ulcer) or tinea manuum, and often have similar symptoms on the skin of the thigh opposite the scrotum and on the buttocks.

Fixed drug eruption is a recurring round edematous erythema with clear edges, burning sensation and itching in a certain part of the scrotal skin. It often appears within a few hours after taking the wrong medicine and gradually disappears about a week after stopping the medicine. Sometimes dark purple spots remain. If the same type of medicine is taken by mistake again, it may recur.

Scabies causes soybean-sized nodules to appear on the scrotal skin. Prior to this, scattered papules and blisters may appear in the crevices of the fingers, wrists, waist, and lower abdomen, often with severe itching at night.

Scrotal neurodermatitis is closely related to emotions. When emotions fluctuate, the scrotal area becomes severely itchy. After scratching, papules appear on the skin, which gradually connect into one piece, and the skin thickens and hardens.

Riboflavin deficiency scrotitis. Long-term consumption of refined white rice, refined white flour, repeated washing of rice, eating chopped green vegetables, or long-term diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, picky eating, partiality, etc., can cause riboflavin deficiency. Its main manifestations are: the scrotum is slightly red and shiny at first, and then light red patches appear on both sides of the scrotal suture, with scales sticking to them. Soon, multiple flat papules the size of soybeans may appear, with varying degrees of itching, often accompanied by angular cheilitis, glossitis, etc. As long as you take riboflavin tablets for a week, the symptoms will improve significantly. After changing your eating habits or returning to normal gastrointestinal function, the condition will also be relieved quickly, but it will recur when the nutritional status is poor.
