What does erection mean?

We all know that when men and women have sex, they need an erection. There are also many men who suffer from impotence and premature ejaculation who may not be able to get an erection no matter how they are stimulated. And almost every boy will have morning erections in the morning. Especially for some young and energetic men, they may have a stronger need for sex. So what does erection mean?

Erection refers to the state and process of the penis, clitoris or nipple of an animal swelling and hardening. Generally speaking, it means that after being stimulated, the male penis relaxes in a short time, quickly becomes engorged with blood, and blood is infused into the venous blood vessels in the corpus cavernosum until the pressure rises to a certain limit. The corpus cavernosum filled with blood will prop up the penis, making it harder and longer. At this time, the erect penis can be inserted into the female vagina more easily to perform piston movement - sexual intercourse. Erectile dysfunction can affect sexual intercourse, and may cause spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation, anejaculation, retrograde ejaculation and ejaculation pain. It is the most common disease of male sexual dysfunction. When a man's cerebral cortex is aroused by hearing, vision, smell, thinking, and imagination related to sexual content, and the stimulation is transmitted through the thoracolumbar erection center of the spinal cord and acts on the corpus cavernosum of the penis, the arteries will dilate and a large amount of blood will flow into the corpus cavernosum of the penis; when the veins contract and the blood outflow from the corpus cavernosum decreases, the blood will be fully retained in the rich blood vessels and blood sinuses in the corpus cavernosum, causing the penis to quickly produce a psychological erection.

The penis body is cylindrical, hanging below the pubic symphysis, and is the movable part. It is composed of three corpora cavernosa tissues, one on each side of the back, which are relatively thick. When stimulated and sexually excited, the internal artery of the penis expands significantly, the blood flow into the penis increases greatly, and the loose corpora cavernosa becomes congested, making the penis hard and erect. After sexual intercourse, the internal artery of the penis contracts, the venous return increases, the blood in the corpora cavernosa decreases, and the penis softens. The rear end is the root of the penis, which is hidden deep in the skin of the scrotum and perineum, and is fixed to the inferior pubic branch and the sciatic branch.

1. The structure of the penis. The penis is composed of three corpora cavernosa. The left and right paired corpora cavernosa are located on the back side. The two are parallel and closely connected. The back end is separated into the left and right crus of the corpora cavernosa, which are attached to the pubic and sciatic branches on both sides, forming a fixed penis root. The urethral corpora cavernosa is below the corpora cavernosa. Its front end is enlarged into the glans penis (i.e., the glans penis), which is sheathed on the front end of the corpora cavernosa. The back end is slightly enlarged, called the urethral bulb, which is attached to the fascia below the urogenital diaphragm. Each corpus cavernosum is covered with a fibrous white membrane, and all three corpora cavernosa and the blood vessels running in the dorsal groove are surrounded by the penile fascia (i.e., Burke's fascia) and skin. The penile skin is extremely thin, with no fat under the skin, and only a layer of loose connective tissue between the penile fascia and the penis. Therefore, the penile skin is mobile and stretchable, which is suitable for penile erection and sexual intercourse. The skin covering the glans penis is folded inward and is called the foreskin.
