What is the reason for prolonged erection and testicular swelling and pain?

There is no need to explain the importance of testicles to men. Everyone understands it. Once any abnormal symptoms appear in the testicles, men must be aware of the seriousness of the problem and must seek diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. Some men may experience prolonged erection and testicular swelling and pain. At this time, the cause should be found first, and then appropriate treatment measures should be taken.

1. Causes of prolonged erection and testicular pain

The reason why testicular swelling and pain occur after prolonged erection is because of sexual impulse or stimulation, which reflexively causes the excitement of the sexual center of the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex transmits the excitement to the spinal cord, which, on the one hand, excites the center of the spinal cord that controls genital erection, causing penile erection, and on the other hand, increases the secretion of the glands and ducts of the reproductive system. A large amount of secretions (mainly prostatic fluid, seminal vesicle fluid, etc.) accumulate in the seminal vesicle, vas deferens, epididymis and urethra, causing pain. This is normal physiological pain. In this case, you need to avoid sexual stimulation and the pain will disappear naturally.

2. Testicular torsion.

Testicular torsion is one of the common acute diseases in the scrotum. Generally, there is vigorous activity a few hours before the onset of the disease, or the testicles have been subjected to external force. Severe testicular pain occurs suddenly during sleep or rest. This is the first symptom of the disease and one of the main diagnostic bases. Some patients also have nausea and vomiting, scrotal swelling, and obvious tenderness.

3. Testicular damage.

The testicles are more mobile in the scrotum and are protected by a tough white membrane, so the chance of closure injury is relatively small. Testicular injuries are mostly related to violence, car accidents, etc. After injury, the testicles will be severely painful, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and even fainting or shock. During physical examination, there will be swollen testicles, unclear contours or scrotal congestion, and obvious tenderness. B-ultrasound and CT not only help in the diagnosis of this disease, but also can clarify the location and extent of testicular injury.

4. Testicular ischemic pain is more common in the elderly . The pain is more severe, aggravated by activity, relieved by rest, and normal on prostatic fluid microscopy. It is often caused by sclerosis of the testicular artery leading to arterial stenosis. Testicular artery atherosclerosis is often a local manifestation of systemic vascular disease, mostly unilateral lesions, more common on the left side than on the right side.

No, orchitis.

The testicles are located in the scrotum, one on each side. The testicles secrete male hormones, which play an important role in the development and maturation of male reproductive organs and the appearance of male secondary sexual characteristics. There are many causes of orchitis. For example, patients with mumps may suffer from orchitis, which can cause testicular pain and swelling. Gonorrhea is the most common sexually transmitted disease, which can cause orchitis in severe cases. Chronic prostatitis can also cause testicular pain, which manifests as unilateral pain, mostly dull pain or pulling pain, which is persistent. Most patients are young and strong, and it is rare in the elderly.
