What does hidden penis mean?

Under normal circumstances, it is common for babies to have a short penis, which is a physiological phenomenon, but it will gradually grow larger as they grow older. If the baby grows to 5-6 years old, the penis has not seen significant enlargement, and it looks like a small raised hillock with a soft skin tube on top and a pinhole-like opening at the front. Although urination is normal, the skin tube enlarges when urinating. This condition is medically called hidden penis.

Hidden penis is a common congenital abnormality and deformity, which is different from prepuce or prepuce hyperplasia in children. As we all know, after a baby boy is born, the prepuce of the penis always covers the glans penis. When the baby is 3-4 years old, the prepuce of the penis can be turned up by itself, and the glans penis is exposed. If the prepuce still cannot be turned up or the opening of the prepuce is very small, it is called prepuce or prepuce hyperplasia.

In hidden penis, the penis is retracted into the body, and the protruding foreskin is too long. If the skin of the penis is squeezed inward, the penis will be visible immediately, but if the hand is slightly loosened, the penis will shrink again. Therefore, many people call it buried penis. Although hidden penis looks like long foreskin, they are two completely different diseases. This is because the surface skin of hidden penis is not too long, but too short, and the penis is not large but normal.

There are three reasons for it. First, the male genital skin is underdeveloped and too short. Second, the foreskin is too long and the cavity is too small. Third, the male genital skin does not cover the cavernous body, causing the cavernous body to shrink without a support point. If the hidden penis is not operated on, it will be hidden for a long time and cannot be extended. The growth and development of the male genital body will be restricted immediately. Therefore, hidden penis must be corrected at a certain age (3-5 years old).
