Increased epididymis size

Increased epididymis size

Every man cannot ignore the important role of the epididymis in the testicles, because as an important component of the male testicles, if there is a problem with the epididymis, it will affect a man's normal fertility. In addition, the epididymis will produce corresponding special substances to promote the maturation of male sperm and enhance male fertility. But why does a man's epididymis gradually swell?

1. Is it a problem if the testicles are too large?

1.1. Testicular enlargement may be caused by prostatitis. There are many symptoms of prostatitis, and testicular enlargement is one of the symptoms of prostatitis. Symptoms of prostatitis include: frequent urination, urgent urination, burning pain in the urethra, mucus, sticky or purulent secretions in the urethra in the morning, turbid urine or white liquid flowing out of the urethra after defecation, discomfort in the posterior urethra, perineum and anus, sometimes pain in the penis, testicles and groin, sometimes unilateral testicular enlargement and pain, or bilateral pain, accompanied by symptoms such as ejaculation pain, hematospermia, premature ejaculation, and impotence.

1.2. Enlarged testicles may be due to orchitis. Men with orchitis also have enlarged testicles, and the pain radiates to the surrounding area, with a distinct feeling of falling, as well as symptoms such as high fever, nausea, vomiting, and increased white blood cell count. At the same time, the testicles are enlarged and tender, and the scrotal skin is red and swollen.

1.3. Testicular enlargement may be one of the symptoms of epididymitis. Symptoms of male epididymitis include scrotal swelling and pain, a feeling of heaviness, pulling pain in the lower abdomen and groin, which worsens when standing or walking; epididymis enlargement, with obvious tenderness. When the inflammation is large, both the epididymis and testicles are swollen, and the boundary between the two is unclear, which is called epididymo-orchitis.

2. What are testicles?

The male reproductive glands of humans and animals are organs that produce sperm and secrete male hormones. Humans have one testicle on each side, which is an oval solid body covered with a smooth and tough white membrane. The white membrane penetrates deep into the testicle and divides the testicle into many cone-shaped lobules. The lobules are filled with tortuous seminiferous tubules, where sperm is produced. The stratified epithelium in the seminiferous tubules is composed of spermatogenic cells and supporting cells. The interstitial cells between the seminiferous tubules can secrete male hormones. The spermatogenic function of the testicles begins in puberty (average age 15), gradually declines in old age, and even stops completely.

3. What is the normal size of human testicles?

Of course, due to differences in race, body shape and other objective conditions, people's testicles are not the same size, but the difference is not great. Medical experts point out that the normal size of a man's testicles is about the same size as the circle formed by the thumb and index finger. It is said that men only need to make an OK sign to put on the testicles. If it is very loose or cannot be inserted at all, it is best to see a doctor as soon as possible.
