JJ not erect

The penis is an important male reproductive organ and sexual organ. When a man is sexually stimulated, the cavernous body in the penis will become engorged and swollen, causing the penis to become erect, which is also the basis for sexual intercourse between men and women. However, some men with physical problems often have difficulty getting their penis erect and having sex. When this happens, it is often caused by insufficient erection symptoms.

Insufficient penile erection refers to the inability of the penis to achieve or maintain an erection to satisfy sexual intercourse. ED is more accurate than the term "impotence" used in the past, because the term impotence has a certain negative connotation. ED can be divided into three degrees: mild, moderate, and severe. Impotence belongs to severe ED. With the development of science and social progress, people's understanding of ED is also deepening.

1. Definition

Self-assessment of the degree of penile erection: (Normal): Normal sexual desire, rapid erection response, the erection can last until ejaculation or disappear after interruption of sexual intercourse, the erection hardness can be freely inserted into the vagina, sexual pleasure is good, there is no obvious change in the frequency of sexual intercourse, and the erection response to masturbation is normal.

Ⅰ° (mild): Sexual desire is basically normal, erection response is rapid, erection duration is unstable, sometimes it cannot be sustained, erection hardness is sometimes not enough to insert into the vagina, sexual pleasure is basically normal, frequency of sexual intercourse is less than before, and erection response during masturbation is basically normal.

II° (moderate): Decreased sexual desire, slower erection response, often unable to sustain erection, erection hardness often insufficient for vaginal penetration, diminished sexual pleasure, significantly reduced frequency of sexual intercourse, and a reluctant erection response during masturbation.

III° (severe): Sexual desire disappears, there is no erectile response, and therefore there is no question of sustained erection of the penis. The penis can be completely inserted into the vagina, but there is no sexual pleasure.

2. Causes

Until the 1970s, the cause of ED was still considered to be related to the decrease in androgen, natural aging and psychological factors. After the 1970s, due to the progress of erectile physiology and pathology research, people realized that although psychological factors can indeed cause ED, for most men, ED is related to many diseases (hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease), drugs, trauma and surgery. The causes can be divided into:

1. Psychological penis erection deficiency

Refers to erectile dysfunction caused by psychological factors such as tension, stress, depression, anxiety and marital discord.

Organic erectile dysfunction

2. Vascular causes: including any disease that may lead to decreased blood flow in the penile cavernous arteries, such as: arteriosclerosis, arterial injury, arterial stenosis, pudendal artery shunt and abnormal heart function, or penile venous leakage caused by decreased smooth muscle in the penile tunica albuginea and the penile sinus cavernosum that obstruct the venous reflux closure mechanism.

3. Neurological causes: Central or peripheral nerve diseases or damage can lead to insufficient penile erection.

4. Surgery and trauma: Surgery such as large vessel surgery, prostate cancer surgery, abdominal perineal and rectal cancer surgery, as well as pelvic fractures, lumbar compression fractures or straddle injuries can cause damage to the blood vessels and nerves related to penile erection, leading to insufficient penile erection.
