What causes varicocele?

Once a man develops varicocele, the danger is very serious. If it is not treated in time, the man's ability to produce sperm will decrease. Some patients will also experience scrotal swelling and obvious scrotal pain. In severe cases, the pain will extend to the groin. Therefore, varicocele must be treated in time. The causes of this symptom are as follows.

First, capsule factors:

Under normal circumstances, the muscular fibrous tissue in the spermatic cord capsule can produce a pumping effect to promote venous return. When the above muscular fibrous tissue atrophies or relaxes, it is not conducive to venous return, causing varicocele.

Second, physiological factors:

Young men have stronger sexual functions and a stronger blood supply to the scrotum. In addition, standing for long periods of time and increased abdominal pressure are also factors that cause varicocele.

Third, other factors:

Retroperitoneal lesions, renal lesions, hydronephrosis, etc. compress the spermatic vein and can cause symptomatic or secondary varicocele. The primary one disappears quickly when lying flat, while the secondary one often does not disappear or disappears very slowly.

Fourth, primary VC

Varicose veins are more common on the left side than on the right side. The possible reasons are: ① Increased intravenous pressure because the left spermatic vein is long and joins the left renal vein at a right angle; ② "Nutcracker phenomenon" (NCS), the superior mesenteric artery and aorta compress the left renal vein, affecting the return of the left internal spermatic vein and even causing reflux, which is the "Nutcracker phenomenon" (NCS); ③ Weak connective tissue around the internal spermatic vein and absence of venous valves are common on the left side.

Factors related to the occurrence of primary varicocele: ① Absence or dysfunction of the varicocele valve leads to blood reflux; weakness of the varicocele wall and surrounding connective tissue, or incomplete development of the levator testis muscle and other anatomical factors. ③ Upright posture affects varicocele reflux.

Fifth, secondary VC

Causes and diseases include: obstruction of the left renal vein or caval vein by tumor thrombus, renal tumor, intra-abdominal or retroperitoneal tumor, obstruction of the left renal vein or caval vein by tumor thrombus, renal tumor, pelvic tumor, huge hydronephrosis, ectopic blood vessels compressing the ascending spermatic vein, etc.
