Sperm does not liquefy

Sperm does not liquefy

Sperm failure to liquefy is also a very common male disease. Many men now have this problem, which has a great impact on us. Everyone should know that normal semen is gelatinous. Under the decomposition of coagulase, semen will become liquid and can smoothly enter the female body and eventually lead to successful pregnancy. However, sperm failure to liquefy disrupts this rule.

There are already many people whose sperm does not liquefy. This phenomenon can lead to infertility. This is also an important reason why many women cannot get pregnant nowadays. If the phenomenon of sperm does not liquefy occurs, it is important to check it out in time to understand the cause.

After normal semen is ejaculated, it becomes thick and jelly-like under the action of coagulase secreted by the seminal vesicles. After 10 to >20 minutes of ejaculation, it liquefies under the action of fibrolytic enzymes secreted by the prostate gland and becomes thinner. Liquefaction time: less than 30 minutes; abnormal liquefaction refers to the phenomenon that semen cannot be completely liquefied at least half an hour after ejaculation or begins to liquefy more than an hour. It includes semen that does not liquefy and semen that liquefies slowly, which is usually referred to as semen that does not liquefy.

If semen does not liquefy, sperm activity will be restricted, slowing down or inhibiting sperm from entering the uterine cavity for fertilization, thus causing infertility. Increased semen viscosity will affect sperm motility and survival rate. At the same time, the proteolytic enzymes contained in semen can liquefy the thick cervical mucus. Therefore, increased semen viscosity will also affect the ability of sperm to penetrate the cervical mucus, leading to infertility.

Common reasons for semen failure to liquefy are insufficient fibrinolytic enzymes secreted by the prostate due to seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis; deficiency of trace elements (magnesium, zinc, etc.); congenital prostate absence, etc.

When semen is in a liquefied state at first, it is very conducive to ejaculation. Then it becomes a jelly state so that the semen can stay in the female vagina and not flow out easily. Then it liquefies again so that the sperm in the semen can fully move so that they can swim along the female reproductive tract to the fallopian tube, which is conducive to sperm and egg combination and fertilization. If this physiological process is not like this, it means that there is a problem with the semen.

The reason why semen is coagulated into a jelly state is due to the coagulation protein secreted by the seminal vesicles. The proteolytic enzymes and fibrinolytic enzymes secreted by the prostate in the semen can decompose this coagulation protein and promote the liquefaction of semen. Therefore, the failure of semen to liquefy is caused by the increase of coagulation protein or the decrease of proteolytic enzymes and fibrinolytic enzymes. When performing semen analysis, if the semen is not coagulated, it may be caused by ejaculatory duct defects or congenital lack of seminal vesicles.

Non-liquefaction of semen affects the free movement of sperm. Under a microscope, sperm can be seen to aggregate in non-liquefaction semen, unable to move or only moving slowly. The movement of sperm in this kind of semen in the female reproductive tract is obviously hindered. Sperm cannot ascend into the cervical canal, uterine cavity and fallopian tube, and cannot meet the egg, causing fertilization obstacles.

Pathological etiology

Traditional Chinese Medicine

The real reason for sperm failure to liquefy lies in the liver and kidneys. If the yin is deficient, internal heat will be generated, which will damage the semen; or if the vital energy is weak, the kidney essence will be damaged; or if the liver is depressed and turns into fire, disturbing the sperm chamber, all of which can affect the normal liquefaction of semen and lead to infertility. Sperm failure to liquefy is mostly caused by cold stagnation, heat burning, phlegm obstruction, and blood stasis. The following are the common causes and pathogenesis:

1. Congenital deficiency of kidney yang, or acquired malnutrition, serious illness or long-term illness that damages kidney yang, or external invasion of cold evil that damages kidney yang can all cause semen to become cold and coagulate and unable to liquefy.

2. Excessive drinking, sex, and sexual activity, frequent ejaculation, or excessive mental exertion, or the five emotions turning into fire, can all damage the kidney yin, and when the yin is deficient, the fire will be strong, burning the body fluids, causing the semen to be thick and undigested.

3. Usually, people who like to eat spicy, sweet and greasy food have internal dampness and heat, or external dampness and poison, which can burn body fluids, make semen turbid and indigestible, and make semen sticky and indigestible.

4. Excessive consumption of cold drinks will damage the spleen yang, or other diseases may damage the spleen yang, resulting in spleen deficiency and kidney deficiency; or kidney yang deficiency leading to spleen yang deficiency, or spleen and kidney yang deficiency, then water and moisture cannot be transported and transformed, and are blocked and form phlegm. Phlegm and moisture accumulate in the semen, and qi transformation is not conducive, then semen cannot be liquefied.

5. Qi deficiency and blood stasis or blood stasis constitution, the sperm is blocked and the semen does not liquefy.

Western Medicine

The most common reasons for sperm failure to liquefy are insufficient fibrinolytic enzymes secreted by the prostate due to seminal vesiculitis and prostatitis; deficiency of trace elements (magnesium, zinc, etc.); congenital prostate absence, etc.

It is generally believed that the secretions of the prostate and seminal vesicles are involved in the coagulation and liquefaction of semen. The coagulation factors produced by the seminal vesicles cause the semen to coagulate, while the semen liquefaction factors such as protease and lysozyme produced by the prostate make the semen liquefy. Once the seminal vesicles or prostate become inflamed, the secretion of the above factors may be impaired, resulting in an increase in coagulation factors or a decrease in liquefaction factors, forming sperm liquefaction syndrome.

Therefore, the key to treating sperm liquefaction syndrome is to cure the seminal vesicle and prostate diseases. Most patients will also see improvement in sperm liquefaction after the prostate and seminal vesicle diseases are cured.

Common causes

1. Lack of trace elements: If male friends lack trace elements such as magnesium and zinc in their bodies, this is also an important reason for sperm not liquefying.

2. Congenital diseases: Many congenital diseases can cause male semen to not liquefy. When a patient has congenital prostate deficiency, it will affect the production of the prostate and protein degrading enzymes, etc. Without the catalysis of these substances, semen will not liquefy.

3. Irregular life: Due to work reasons, many men have irregular life hours. Staying up late for a long time can easily lead to semen liquefaction, thus causing male infertility.

1. Semen will be relatively viscous or in a jelly-like state, and may appear in flakes, chunks, or clumps. It will not liquefy outside the body for more than an hour.

2. Symptoms of difficulty in ejaculation occur, accompanied by ejaculation pain, hematospermia, and even impotence, premature ejaculation, and spermatorrhea.

3. Leading to poor mental state and neurasthenia, such as insomnia, palpitations, dizziness, fatigue, etc. Not only that, some complications will also occur.

There are many reasons for sperm non-liquefaction. Some are due to the male's own physical problems, and some are due to bad living habits, irregular life, frequent staying up late, and bad eating habits. Long-term bad habits will make the body very bad and will easily cause semen non-liquefaction. This requires timely treatment. Don't miss the treatment because of embarrassment.
