Poor memory? Only seven ways to improve your memory

Reading books regularly can help you learn more knowledge and swim in the ocean of knowledge. It is incredible that playing games can also improve your memory. Today, I will briefly introduce seven ways to exercise your memory and make your brain more active!

1. Read a book

Pick up a book on a completely new subject. Read a novel set in Egypt, learn about finance. There are many excellent and popular non-fiction books that will teach you relevant knowledge and make you happy at the same time. Become an expert on something new every week. Read outside of your familiar topics. If you usually read history books, try a contemporary novel. Read foreign works, classics and random books. Not only will your mind be exercised by immersing yourself in different times, cultures and people, but you will also get interesting stories.

2. Play games

Playing games is a great way to challenge your brain. Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and video games can all help you think faster and remember more. These games rely on logic, word skills, math, and more. And they're all fun. When you spend about 15 minutes a day playing these games, instead of hours, you'll benefit greatly.

3. Use your other hand

Do things with your less controlled hand. If you are left-handed, open the door with your right hand. If you are right-handed, try using the key with your left hand. This simple thing will give you a new way of thinking. Wear a watch on your other hand to remind yourself to change.

4. Remember phone numbers

Our phones remember every number we call. No one memorizes phone numbers anymore, but this is a memory trick. Try to memorize a new phone number every day.

5. Eat for your brain

Your brain needs you to eat healthy fats. Focus on cod liver oil, wild salmon, nuts (like walnuts), seeds (like flax seeds and olive oil). Eat more of these foods and less saturated fats. Eliminate trans fats from your diet completely.

6. Break the Rules

We like routine. Those hobbies and entertainments we can do for hours on end. But the more something becomes a habit, the less your brain will use it. To help your brain stay young, challenge it. Change your usual route to the grocery store, use your free hand to open the door, eat dessert first when you eat. All of these will force your mind to wake up from habit and focus again.

7. Take a different path

Wherever you go, take a different route. This small change helps the brain practice specific memory and sense of direction. To change up your daily route, try going to the grocery store from a different direction.
