Can AIDS be transmitted through kissing? Revealing how AIDS is transmitted

Kissing is a way for couples to maintain their relationship. But for AIDS patients, can kissing transmit AIDS? Let's find out together.

Can AIDS be transmitted through kissing?

Kissing does not transmit AIDS. HIV exists in the blood, semen, vaginal secretions, tears, urine, breast milk, and cerebrospinal fluid of infected people. The content in saliva is very small and will not cause human infection. Someone has calculated that under normal circumstances (no heavy bleeding in the mouth), if the HIV virus contained in saliva is to achieve the effect of infecting AIDS, two gallons (7.5 liters) of saliva must enter the other person's body. Moreover, so far, the scientific community has not found any case of infection through kissing alone.

Being pricked by an AIDS needle can cause HIV infection

Even if you are pricked by an AIDS needle, you will not be 100% infected with the AIDS virus. Currently, there is no case of infection after being pricked by an AIDS needle in the medical field. In addition, the ability of the AIDS virus to survive outside the body is very weak. There are only three ways for AIDS to spread: blood, mother-to-child, and sexual relations. Eating or swimming with an AIDS patient will not infect you, so don't worry.

How AIDS is spread

1. Mother-to-child transmission

If the mother is infected with HIV, she is likely to infect her child during pregnancy, delivery or breastfeeding. However, if the mother takes anti-HIV drugs during pregnancy, the baby's chance of being infected with HIV will be much lower, or even completely healthy.

2. Transmission through blood transfusion

If there is HIV in the blood, the person who receives the blood will be infected.

3. Sexual transmission

HIV can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. If you have sexually transmitted diseases (such as syphilis, gonorrhea, condyloma acuminatum) or ulcers on your genitals, you are at increased risk of contracting the virus. There are large amounts of the virus in the semen or vaginal secretions of HIV-infected people, and the virus can be transmitted through anal or vaginal intercourse. The chance of transmission through oral sex is relatively small, unless the healthy person has a wound or a rupture in the mouth, HIV can be transmitted through blood or semen.
