What types of hair loss caused by fungi do you know?

Hair loss is a common problem that troubles many people, especially severe hair loss, which has a great impact on the patient's image. Therefore, hair loss should be prevented and treated in time. There are many types of hair loss, among which some patients suffer from fungal infection. So what are the types and symptoms of fungal hair loss?

Fungal alopecia is also known as infectious alopecia, which includes fungal infections. There are many bacterial infections that can cause this type of hair loss, such as chickenpox on the head, tuberculosis, and tinea capitis caused by various fungi, all of which can cause hair loss.

The hair loss caused by tinea capitis is a fungal alopecia. The symptoms vary depending on the pathogen. Tinea capitis includes yellow ringworm, white ringworm, and black ringworm. Among them, yellow ringworm and white ringworm may also be complicated by purulent ringworm. White ringworm usually does not leave scars, while the other types can damage hair follicles and cause permanent hair loss.

Pityriasis usually occurs in children. At first, the skin at the root of the hair may become red, and then follicular abscesses will gradually form, which will form yellow scabs after drying. The skin lesions will gradually increase in size, and the pityriasis scabs will also expand and fuse, and then become thicker, with a sunken center, with hair passing through, and the edges slightly higher like a saucer. Over time, the skin at the scab will shrink, resulting in damage to the hair follicles, hair loss, and finally the formation of atrophic scars.

Melanoma has no age limit and can occur in adults and children. In the early stages of the disease, small inflammatory scaly patches will appear on the scalp, which will itch slightly. The damage will gradually expand. The hair will break close to the scalp, and then small black spots will appear. Melanoma hair loss progresses slowly, and long-term disease may leave punctate scars.

The onset of pustules infection is acute, and the hair follicles in the affected area may develop pus-like infections, which may cause swollen bumps on the affected hair scalp. The bumps are soft and fluctuating, but there will not be severe redness, swelling, heat or pain. A small amount of serum or translucent pus may be produced after incision and squeezing. The hair in the lesions can be easily pulled out, and an atrophic scar may form after healing.

There are many types of fungal hair loss. Different fungi have different symptoms. The above are some of the symptoms of tinea capitis. Therefore, when we find these tinea capitis fungal infections on the head, we must treat them in time, and pay attention to preventing infection and controlling them in time to avoid worsening hair loss and causing greater impact.
