What is male urethral dilation?

Many men suffer from diseases because their urethral opening is too small. Therefore, men with such conditions need to undergo urethral dilation surgery in time. If a man needs urethral dilation surgery, he needs to be examined before the surgery to ensure that he can accept surgical treatment. If he cannot accept the surgery but insists on having the surgery, it may affect his health. So, let's learn about urethral dilation.

Male urethral stenosis is a common disease in urology. According to its etiology, it can be divided into three categories: congenital, inflammatory and traumatic. Congenital urethral stenosis is relatively rare, such as congenital urethral orifice stenosis, urethral valve, hypertrophy of the spermatophore, urethral lumen stenosis, etc. Inflammatory urethral stenosis is caused by specific or non-specific urethral infection.

Among specific infections, gonorrheal urethral stenosis is more common; among non-specific infections, urethral stenosis of the external urethra and penile urethra caused by repeated inflammation of the foreskin and glans penis is common. Inflammatory urethral stenosis caused by improper indwelling catheters has attracted widespread attention. This type of stenosis is more common in the cavernous body urethra and has a wider range. Traumatic urethral stenosis is the most common acquired urethral stenosis. The location of the stenosis depends on the site of injury. Those caused by perineal straddle injuries are mostly in the bulbar urethra. Those caused by pelvic fractures are located in the membranous or prostatic tip urethra. Generally, the stenosis segment is not long, but the scar is relatively hard.

The main indications of urethral stricture dilation are to prevent and treat inflammatory, traumatic and post-urethral urethral stricture. Urethral stricture dilation is used to treat urethral stricture. On the one hand, it plays a mechanical role in dilating the stricture. On the other hand, it plays a massage role, improves local blood circulation, and promotes scar softening and infiltration absorption.

After the operation is successful, men generally need to take timely and safe measures to prevent the invasion of germs. In addition, it is very important to drink plenty of water after the operation to promote the discharge of urine. If there is bleeding during urination, you must go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
