How to treat male bladder stones

Male bladder stones are extremely painful for a man, and he is unable to turn over. We can imagine that if a man has a problem with his bladder, he cannot go to the toilet, which puts his kidneys in an overloaded state. If a man has a problem with his kidneys, it is conceivable that his dignity as a man is trampled on and he cannot stand up straight. We have heard a lot about stones, such as gallstones and kidney stones. We have only heard of ultrasonic lithotripsy. So how should bladder stones be treated? This has also become a concern for many men. Let us take a closer look at the mechanism of bladder stones.

There are five types of bladder stone treatment

The specific treatment methods for bladder stones mainly include:

1. General treatment

Increase the amount of water you drink appropriately. When the bladder stone is not removed, urinate in a supine position to reduce the occurrence of urination interruption. Improve your diet and rest.

2. Control urinary tract infection

Infection can be the cause of stone formation and growth. Patients with obvious infection should undergo urine bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test, and antibiotics should be used accordingly.

3. Relieve urinary tract obstruction

Bladder stones in elderly men are often caused by prostatic hyperplasia, so the lower urinary tract obstruction caused by prostatic hyperplasia should be relieved while treating bladder stones. Currently, the commonly used methods of endoscopic prostatectomy are transurethral resection of the prostate, electrovaporization resection and plasma resection.

4. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy should be used less frequently by the elderly because of its poor effect and the high mobility, large size, and difficulty in locating of bladder stones. Generally, the elderly do not use extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy to treat bladder stones.

5. Transurethral cystoscopic lithotripsy

The primary treatment for bladder stones is to remove the stones that have already formed. Stones that enter the bladder from the upper urinary tract can generally be excreted from the body through the urethra. Stones that form in the bladder are larger in size and generally cannot be excreted from the body with urine on their own. Conservative treatments such as drinking more water and taking medicines are ineffective.

The main method of stone removal is surgery. Transurethral cystoscopic lithotripsy is the most commonly used method, which is less invasive and has a quick recovery. The surgical method is to insert various lithotripsy devices through the urethra under cystoscopic monitoring, crush or smash the stones, and then flush out the broken stones.

Commonly used lithotripters include: pneumatic ballistics, mechanical lithotripsy, hydraulic and ultrasonic lithotripsy, which are suitable for smaller bladder stones and can remove prostatic hyperplasia and bladder neck obstruction at the same time. For larger bladder stones (diameter > 4cm), or stones and lesions that cannot be treated by transurethral cystoscopic lithotripsy, open lithotripsy should be used.
