What is the cause of testicular pain?

Testicular pain may be caused by orchitis or testicular injury. Bacteria can cause infection by retrograde infection of the urinary tract to the epididymis and testicles. If testicular pain is caused by injury, there will be congestion in the painful area, and the pain will be aggravated during vigorous exercise, and the levator testis muscle will contract strongly. Sudden twisting of the testicle can also cause pain. Male sexual desire may decrease when the testicle is slightly painful.

Testicular tenderness often occurs after strenuous physical exertion, such as lifting heavy objects, or after intense sexual excitement. In addition, injuries caused by transurethral instrumentation can lead to epididymitis, and epididymitis can also occur after prostatectomy.

Prostate infection induced by urethral indwelling catheter and urethral instrument examination, as well as acute epididymitis, can also cause testicular pain. Sterile urine reflux into the vas deferens can cause chemical epididymitis, which can also cause testicular pain.

Acute epididymitis often follows prostatitis. Testicular pain in the scrotum often occurs suddenly and can radiate along the spermatic cord to the inguinal area and lumbosacral region. The pain is usually severe and significantly aggravated by pressure. At the same time, the swelling progresses rapidly and can double the volume of the epididymis within 3 to 4 hours. The body temperature can reach about 40°C, and secretions may appear in the urethra. At this time, it may be accompanied by cystitis and turbid urine.

Clinically, patients with epididymitis will experience symptoms of testicular pain, which radiates to the groin, with a distinct feeling of falling, high fever, nausea, vomiting, elevated white blood cells, etc. At the same time, the testicles are enlarged, the pain is very obvious, and the scrotal skin is red and swollen. During examination, the epididymis often enlarges and hardens to varying degrees. There is mild tenderness, and the vas deferens on the same side may be thickened.

Slight testicular pain is very harmful to patients. It can cause the patient to lose fertility and induce diseases such as varicocele and prostatitis. Slight testicular pain may be suspected to be a malignant tumor. If this pain is caused by long-term stimulation of inflammation, the pain may be aggravated when the man ejaculates, seriously affecting the quality of life of the couple.
