What causes cystitis in men?

Because women have shorter urethras and the distance between the urethra and vagina is closer, they are more likely to suffer from cystitis. However, this does not mean that cystitis is exclusive to women. Men also often suffer from cystitis. Not only do they have symptoms of painful urination, but the symptoms become more severe during intercourse. So, what causes men to suffer from cystitis?

1. Cystitis has many causes, but most of them are infections caused by purulent bacteria. Causes include stones, foreign bodies, tumors or obstructive/lesions, including urinary dysfunction caused by nervous system diseases. The pathological changes of acute inflammatory symptoms of cystitis include mucosal congestion, edema, bleeding and ulcer formation, as well as pus or necrotic tissue.

2. Chronic inflammation mainly includes mucosal hyperplasia or atrophy, granulation tissue formation, and fibrous tissue hyperplasia, bladder capacity reduction; or muscle hypertrophy caused by concurrent obstruction, bladder capacity increase and even diverticulum formation. Another special inflammatory change is gangrenous cystitis, which is a severe cystitis caused by fusiform bacteria, aerobic capsular bacteria, etc. If such symptoms occur, you can use diuretic and anti-inflammatory pills for conditioning.

3. The consequence of holding urine may lead to bladder fibrosis, which reduces bladder capacity and even causes urine reflux in the ureter, causing kidney edema and kidney inflammation. The pain will double when urinating. The worst thing is that the pain may be located at the urethral opening and perineum, and the pain will not ease until after urination.

In addition, sexual activity or various stresses in life can make the condition worse or relapse, causing anxiety and tension. Therefore, if you want to urinate, you should do it as soon as possible to avoid unbearable consequences.

Men who suffer from cystitis must pay attention to active treatment. Because this disease often becomes more serious due to sexual intercourse, it is best to reduce or avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. If it is caused by stones, it is necessary to remove the stones in time, and pay attention to drinking more water, urinating frequently, and not holding urine.
