What are the steps of a penis removal surgery?

The penis is a very important reproductive organ for men, and it is also very prone to various diseases, one of which is penile cancer. When it occurs, it causes great harm to men's health. At this time, penile resection is required for treatment. Many men are concerned about the surgical process of penile resection. So, what are the steps of penile resection? Let's take a detailed look below.

1. Lithotomy position.

2. A fusiform skin incision is made around the base of the penis, with the upper end reaching the pubis and the lower end surrounding the base of the penis.

3. Separate the subcutaneous tissue at the base of the penis, and separate the fat below the suprapubic incision and between the spermatic cord and the base of the penis from the deep fascia in preparation for removal together with the penis.

4. Cut off the corpus cavernosum of the urethra. Use an electric knife to cut off the urethra and corpus cavernosum 2.5 cm away from the tumor. The length of the urethra to be retained must be sufficient to create a perineal stoma.

5. Separate the proximal urethral corpus cavernosum. Use scissors to separate the urethral corpus cavernosum proximally. The urethral corpus cavernosum is closely connected to the penile corpus cavernosum and is not easy to separate. Avoid damaging the urethra.

6. Urethral diversion: Make a small incision in the middle of the perineum between the anus and the base of the scrotum, lead the proximal urethral corpus cavernosum 1 cm out of the small incision, and cut off the excess part. Cut the end of the urethra horizontally to form two upper and lower flaps, and suture the mucosa with the skin edge. Insert the catheter through the diverted urethral opening and fix it with silk sutures.

7. Cut and ligate the penile blood vessels. Cut the penile ligaments and incise the penile fascia in the midline. Separate the dorsal deep vein, dorsal penile artery and nerve in the middle, cut and ligate them respectively.

8. Cut the corpus cavernosum of the stem and continue to separate it along the stem until it reaches the attachment of the pubic branch. Protect the bulbar urethra with gauze, cut the corpus cavernosum of the stem near the pubic branch, and suture the remaining ends with silk thread.

9. Clean the wound and soak it in 1-2mg% nitrogen mustard saline solution for 5 minutes.

10. Suture the incision. Suture the midpoint of the scrotal incision with the upper corner of the suprapubic incision to raise the scrotum and prevent it from sagging and affecting urination.

The above is an introduction to the steps of penile resection, which I hope will be helpful for male patients to understand. It is unfortunate to suffer from serious penile diseases. At this time, penile resection should be taken for treatment. Many andrology hospitals have very safe surgeries. It is best to go to these hospitals for surgery, so that you can get the best treatment effect.
