Prostate cancer bone metastasis survival

Prostate cancer bone metastasis survival

Prostate cancer is a type of malignant tumor. Many malignant tumors are very likely to metastasize in the late stages, and prostate cancer is also prone to bone metastasis. When prostate cancer metastasizes to the bone, it means that the condition is still relatively serious. At this time, many patients will be more worried about their survival period. People's lifespan will also be affected by the progression of the disease. So how long is the survival period of prostate cancer with bone metastasis?

1. After prostate cancer metastasizes to the bone, surgery is more effective than simple drug treatment and can prolong the patient's survival. Therefore, if the patient's physical condition and organ function allow, radical surgery can be performed regardless of the stage. If the patient cannot undergo radical surgery, comprehensive treatment is recommended. Some patients with bone metastasis can achieve a certain degree of survival extension through good diagnosis and reasonable comprehensive treatment, and clinically, cases with survival periods exceeding 5-6 years have been seen.

2. There are diagnostic methods for prostate cancer bone metastasis. After the patient has a prostate biopsy, a staging assessment is required. The discovery of bone metastasis indicates advanced tumors. For patients with advanced prostate cancer, if the patient undergoes comprehensive treatment, bone protection therapy, chemotherapy, etc., the patient's 5-year survival rate can reach 50%. The survival rate of prostate cancer bone metastasis is about 7 to 8 years. If the treatment is good and the patient recovers well, the survival period will also increase.

3. The survival period of prostate cancer bone metastasis is closely related to the number of bone metastases and whether standardized and rational treatment is adopted. Prostate cancer is close to the presacral venous complex, and prostate cancer cells can metastasize to the spine through the prostate return vein, and even spread to the whole body. Prostate cancer has a good prognosis if there are few bone metastases and endocrine therapy is the main treatment, or surgery is performed first to treat the primary lesion, and then radiotherapy or surgery is performed for the few metastatic lesions. For patients with extensive metastasis of prostate cancer, endocrine therapy is the main treatment, zoledronic acid is used to protect the bones, or internal irradiation therapy with radium 223 and other adjuvant treatments are used, and the prognosis is poor.
