How to determine if the testicle is torsion

How to determine if the testicle is torsion

Healthy testicles can bring confidence to men, but things always happen so suddenly. For example, testicular torsion is a common male disease. Improper or untimely treatment will cause testicular necrosis, thus losing the ability to continue life. Therefore, testicular problems should be taken seriously in time to avoid major problems. So, how to judge whether the testicles are torsion? This requires everyone to understand.

1. Judging from the pain: To detect whether you have testicular torsion, you must first see how severe the testicular pain is. The most obvious symptom of testicular torsion is severe pain, which also occurs in the perineum and lower abdomen. The pain will become more severe with a slight touch.

2. Judging from the appearance: After testicular torsion occurs, the male testicles will not only experience severe pain, but will also swell rapidly, and the position of the twisted testicles in the scrotum will be significantly higher than normal testicles. Some patients with longer and more severe testicular torsion may also have dark red testicles.

3. Self-touch test: If you do not have the above symptoms, but are afraid of having testicular torsion, you can touch your balls and gently rotate and rub your testicles to carefully feel whether there are any lumps or pain. Normally, the testicles should feel smooth, full and not hard, without lumps or pain. If there are lumps and pain, it is recommended to see a doctor in time.

How to treat testicular torsion

The most common time for testicular torsion to occur is at night. Symptoms include pain in one or both testicles, which is often unbearable, accompanied by vomiting, nausea or fever, redness and swelling of the genitals, etc. If testicular torsion is not treated in time, the consequences are serious and in severe cases, the testicles may even have to be removed.

The first type, manual reduction, can be tried immediately to correct the torsion within 12 hours after diagnosis. Manual reduction may relieve the torsion and restore the blood supply to the testicle, so that selective surgery can be performed later. During reduction, 5-10 ml of 1% lidocaine is first injected around the spermatic cord at the outer ring for block anesthesia, and reduction is performed 5 minutes later. Knot-like changes in the spermatic cord at the torsion can be felt, which can disappear immediately after successful reduction in the opposite direction. The pain is also relieved quickly. Selective orchiopexy can be postponed to within 48 hours.

Second, if the manual reduction fails, or if testicular necrosis is suspected, or the diagnosis of testicular torsion cannot be ruled out, scrotal exploration should be performed immediately. It is important to prevent inappropriate delays for special examinations, because testicular necrosis is related to the time of testicular torsion. If the testicle still has the possibility of survival, it should be retained, and only the obviously necrotic testicle should be removed. Recent data indicate that testicles lacking blood supply can stimulate the production of anti-sperm antibodies and can harm the healthy testicle, so some scholars suggest that only testicles that have obviously restored circulation after torsion reduction should be retained.

The third type is special adolescent patients with acute testicular pain and swelling, which is mostly caused by torsion. Because the gubernaculum testis has been fused to the scrotal wall and the closure of the tunica vaginalis is relatively high, it often forms a torsion in the tunica vaginalis sac. The pain in the scrotum occurs suddenly, and the scrotum edema occurs quickly afterwards. Once the diagnosis is made, scrotal exploration should be performed immediately, and orchiopexy should be performed on the other side at the same time. If the torsion can be reduced manually, orchiopexy should still be performed, because torsion recurrence and testicular necrosis can occur before the patient is discharged from the hospital.

Although self-testing of the testicles has a certain degree of accuracy, after all, I am not a professional and cannot accurately identify whether it is testicular torsion. Therefore, if any abnormality occurs, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. Don't ruin the rest of your life for the sake of temporary face.
