Prostatitis Treatment

Prostatitis Treatment

As men age, the prostate becomes the area most susceptible to disease, and if prostatitis is not treated in time, it is easy to develop into prostate cancer. More importantly, when men suffer from prostatitis, urination will be seriously affected, such as frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete urination, which are the most obvious symptoms of prostatitis. What are the treatments for prostatitis in clinical medicine?

Prostatitis is a very common disease in our clinical practice. About 10%-15% of patients will have symptoms of prostatitis. The treatment of prostatitis is mainly based on comprehensive treatment.

The first point is to advise patients to change their bad lifestyle and habits, quit smoking and drinking, avoid sitting for long periods of time, and avoid holding urine. Another point is drug treatment, which should be based on the type of prostatitis. Because there are many types of prostatitis, for acute bacterial prostatitis, we first recommend the use of antibiotics for treatment, and the full course of treatment is generally recommended to be used for about four weeks.

Second, for chronic bacterial prostatitis, it is recommended to use antibiotics for treatment, and Chinese medicine can also be used for treatment if necessary.

Third, for chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, we recommend that patients take treatment based on their symptoms. If they have problems with urination or abnormal urination, we can use α-receptor blockers. If they have pain symptoms, we recommend that patients take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition, Chinese medicine can be used for treatment, because many patients have symptoms of damp heat and blood stasis in traditional Chinese medicine, so some Chinese medicine that removes dampness and activates blood circulation can be used for treatment. Combining Western medicine treatment may be more effective. Therefore, for the treatment of prostatitis, we recommend that we go to a regular hospital and see a regular andrologist for treatment with both Chinese and Western medicine.
