Can male infertility be cured?

In real life, male infertility is also a relatively common disease. There are many reasons leading to male infertility. Generally, it is due to changes in semen, or it is a phenomenon caused by male impotence and premature ejaculation. Poor sperm quality can easily affect normal fertility. It can be treated and requires detailed physical examination for treatment.

Can male infertility be treated?

Chang Yin

Generally speaking, men must have sufficient healthy sperm, unobstructed ejaculatory ducts, and good ejaculation function to be fertile. If any of the above conditions is missing, infertility is possible.

Common causes of male infertility include:

1. Sexual dysfunction: For example, male impotence, premature ejaculation, abnormal ejaculation, etc. are all types of male sexual dysfunction, which will cause male sperm to be unable to enter the female reproductive tract, thereby causing infertility.

2. Immune infertility: The male or female body produces antibodies against sperm, which will kill the sperm, causing the sperm's activity and survival to decrease, thereby causing male infertility.

3. Abnormal testicular spermatogenesis: For example, cryptorchidism, varicocele, etc. There are also some environmental factors that can lead to abnormal testicular spermatogenesis in men, but they will all lead to the obstruction of sperm production, thereby causing male infertility.

4. Vas deferens obstruction: Vas deferens obstruction will cause sperm to be unable to be transported out of the body normally, thus hindering fertility.

5. Abnormal sperm and seminal plasma structure: This situation will have a certain impact on the activity and survival rate of sperm. The sperm will not be able to obtain function or will produce an acrostatic reaction.

6. Reproductive tract infection: This is one of the more common causes of male infertility, and the incidence rate has been gradually increasing in recent years. For example: orchitis, prostatitis, urethritis, etc. If not treated in time, the condition will become increasingly serious and may affect the male reproductive function.

7. Endocrine diseases: Abnormal endocrine system in men occurs due to the lack of hormones that promote the secretion of male gonads.

8. Chromosomal abnormalities: Such as pseudohermaphroditism, Klinefelter syndrome, etc., are chromosomal diseases caused by male chromosomal abnormalities or abnormal chromosome functions, and are also the cause of male infertility.

Treatment options

Drugs

Including hormone therapy and nutritional therapy

1. Hormone drug treatment is selected for cases of oligospermia or poor semen quality.

⑴ Chorionic gonadotropin (HCG): The preparation currently used in clinical practice includes interstitial cell stimulating hormone (ICSH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). It stimulates the testicular seminiferous tubules to produce sperm, stimulates the development of interstitial cells to release testosterone, and is used for patients with hypopituitarism, low FSH levels, and secondary testicular spermatogenesis dysfunction. The dosage is 1000u, injected intramuscularly once every other day, and a course of treatment is 10 to 12 weeks.

⑵ Clomiphene: It is a synthetic female hormone derivative that competitively binds to estradiol receptors in the hypothalamus, inhibits the feedback effect of estradiol on the hypothalamus, promotes the secretion of GnRH and pituitary gonadotropin, and is beneficial to spermatogenesis. The dosage is 25-50 mg orally per day for 25 days and stop for 5 days, and continue for 3-6 months.
