How to check for yeast in men

Although compared to women, men's reproductive organs are internal structures and are less likely to suffer from bacterial infections, the male foreskin is wrinkled and the glans is an area that easily harbors dirt. If you do not pay attention to the hygiene of your private parts, you may face fungal infestation over time. So how should you check if you suspect you have fungal infections?

Fungi are found all over the body, and the infections they cause are relatively serious. Fungi in urine can affect the patient's urination, causing symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, back pain, and genital discomfort. Male patients may even develop prostate inflammation. It is recommended to take an active approach. Fungal urethritis is mainly diagnosed through the detection of pathogens, usually by sampling urine, prostate fluid in male patients, or urethral secretions in female patients.

The symptoms of male yeast infection mainly manifest as urethritis and glans inflammation. The symptoms of male yeast infection vary greatly in different patients.

The symptoms of male fungal infection vary greatly in different patients. Generally speaking, male fungal infection symptoms often manifest in urethritis and glansitis. Male fungal infection symptoms are mostly manifested as fungal glansitis, and the patient population is often young and middle-aged people aged 20-50 years old. In addition, diabetic patients are very susceptible to balanitis due to their low immunity.

Male fungal infection is what we call Candida albicans. Although men are less likely to be infected with fungi, the mechanical friction and damage to the skin and mucous membranes caused by sexual intercourse creates conditions for fungal infection. When there is fungal infection in the external genitalia of both men and women, it can be transmitted to each other through sexual contact. The inner side of the male foreskin is an ideal growth site for male fungal infection, and men with long foreskin are more likely to be infected with male fungal infection.

The symptoms of yeast infection in men can be roughly divided into the following three categories:

1. Male patients with fungal infection often experience swelling, erythema, exudation, ulceration, fever, etc. in the affected area. In severe cases, pus and blisters may even appear. In addition, patients also have symptoms such as pain and burning. As the infection worsens, it may also cause general weakness, fever and other discomfort. Harbin Modern Men's Hospital experts remind: If male fungal infection-induced glansitis does not heal for a long time, it may cause adhesion of the foreskin and glans, forming secondary phimosis, leading to stenosis of the external urethral opening, affecting physical health.

2. Male patients with fungal infection will develop red rashes, small blisters, erythema, etc. on the affected area, followed by erosions with a layer of cheese-like secretions attached to the eroded surface. The secretions caused by this type of fungal infection are easy to peel off, and after peeling off, red erosions can be seen, and small bleeding spots will appear in some parts.

3. It is easy to cause glansitis, the glans foreskin becomes red and swollen. Glansitis is mostly caused by urinary tract infection and irritation from detergent residues on clothes, and male fungal infection can also cause inflammation. Glansitis is more common in patients with redundant foreskin and phimosis. It is caused by the smegma produced by the redundant foreskin irritating the glans, resulting in inflammation of the glans.
