Infertility can be hereditary

Infertility can be hereditary

Many people cannot define the genetic probability of infertility in their lives. In this case, the vast majority may be related to potential genetic diseases in the body, such as congenital blockage of the fallopian tubes, congenital dysplasia, and weak physical constitution of the back, which are all causes of infertility.

Introduction

Under normal circumstances, sex chromosome composition first establishes the distinction between sexes. Therefore, any damage to any link in the process of sexual differentiation can affect normal reproductive function and cause infertility. Genetic infertility refers to infertility caused by genetic factors, which mainly involves three factors: sex chromosome composition, gonad differentiation, and sex hormones and functions in the process of sexual differentiation.

Disease Type

Chromosomal abnormalities

(1) Sex chromosome abnormalities. These include abnormalities in the number of sex chromosomes and structural abnormalities. Abnormalities in the number of sex chromosomes refer to an increase or decrease in the number of sex chromosomes, such as 45,xo syndrome, super-X syndrome, 46,xX males and 46,xy females, 46,XX/46,XY, 45,X/46,XY, 46,XX/47.XXY, 46,XX/47.XXY/49,XXYYY, etc. The common clinical features are sexual dysplasia or hermaphroditism, which affects reproductive function. Some only show characteristics such as decreased fertility and poor intelligence. Structural abnormalities of sex chromosomes are caused by chromosome breaks, translocations, inversions, deletions, or ring chromosomes. Structural abnormalities can lead to gonadal dysplasia, hormone secretion disorders, or sex reversal, thus affecting reproductive function.

(2) Autosomal abnormality. This refers to abnormalities in the number or structure of chromosomes 1 to 22. The common clinical features are congenital non-progressive intellectual disability, slow growth and development, often accompanied by malformations of the facial features, limbs, and internal organs. Some may also have gonadal development disorders, functional decline, or sex reversal, leading to spontaneous abortion, infant death, or infertility after reaching childbearing age.

2. Gene mutation

Gene mutations that regulate gonad development and related hormones and receptors can lead to infertility, including those affecting androgen synthase, androgen receptors, CnRH, Cn HH receptors, LH or FSH, LH receptors or FSH receptors. Aromatase gene mutations can affect different reproductive stages and lead to infertility.

How to avoid

Pre-marital health check-up

Patients who are suffering from viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, and other serious organic diseases should not rush into love and marriage. Research results show that the ancestors of patients with various serious diseases will also have an increased ability to develop genetic diseases.

Pre-pregnancy genetic counseling

A couple who have given birth to a child with congenital mental retardation often feel very confused. They are both normal people and their relatives have never had similar diseases. How could they give birth to a child with congenital mental retardation? Experts point out that if they raise their awareness of preventing genetic diseases and get genetic counseling the next time they get pregnant, the tragedy should be able to prevent it from happening again.
