Everyone should be familiar with male testicles. Male testicles are, to a large extent, the same as female uterus, an important part of the body that secretes male or female hormones. However, male testicles are also the most vulnerable part of the male body. But I wonder if you have heard of rabbit testicles, which are a medicine developed by medical workers to treat male testicular diseases. So what is the function of rabbit testicles? The reproductive organs of rabbits have their own characteristics in morphology, position and anatomical structure. Understanding their characteristics is of great significance for improving the reproduction of rabbits and preventing reproductive system diseases. (1) Male rabbit reproductive organs and their functions Male rabbit reproductive organs mainly include testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, accessory glands, penis and scrotum. ① Testes. Testes are paired organs where sperms are produced and developed, and are also the place where male hormones are produced, so they are called gonads. The testes of adult male rabbits are oval, 2.5 to 3.0 cm long, 1.2 to 1.4 cm wide, and the two testicles weigh 6 to 7 grams. The head of the testicles faces forward and upward, close to the wide and short inguinal canal. The location and size of the testicles vary with age. Before sexual maturity, the testicles are located in the abdominal cavity and attached to the abdominal wall. When sexual maturity is approaching, the testicles descend into the scrotal cavity along the inguinal canal. The testicles of young rabbits aged 1 to 2 months have not yet developed and remain in the inguinal canal, so they are not easy to feel outside the body, and there is no obvious scrotum formed outside the body. The scrotum begins to appear after about 2.5 months of age. Usually, the testicles of adult male rabbits are located in the scrotal cavity, but because the rabbit's inguinal canal is wide and short, and it is not closed throughout life, the testicles can freely enter and exit the inguinal canal. The testicles have two functions: one is to produce sperm, and the other is to secrete male hormones. Male hormones can stimulate male rabbits to have sexual desire and promote the development of secondary sexual characteristics. They are also important for the occurrence of sperm in the testicles and prolonging the life of sperm in the epididymis. ② Epididymis. The epididymis is attached to one side of the testis. It is a duct system for sperm maturation and discharge, and is also a place for sperm storage. The epididymis is mainly composed of the epididymis duct, which is a very long and curved duct. The rabbit epididymis is very developed and consists of three parts: the epididymis caput, epididymis body and epididymis. ③ Vas deferens. The vas deferens is the part of the epididymis that extends out from the tail of the epididymis. The muscle layer of the vas deferens is well developed, and the contraction force is strong during mating, which can discharge sperm from the tail of the epididymis into the urogenital tract. ④ Accessory glands. Accessory glands include seminal vesicles, seminal vesicles, prostate glands, paraprostatic glands and bulbourethral glands. The main functions of accessory glands are to flush out the residual urine in the urogenital tract so that sperm will not be harmed when passing through; participate in the composition of semen and provide nutrients required by sperm; dilute semen to help push and transport sperm out of the body; improve the adverse environment for sperm, prolong the life of sperm, and improve the fertility of sperm; form a vaginal plug during natural mating to prevent semen backflow. |
