How long after circumcision can I have sex?

Circumcision is a common surgical procedure for treating male genital diseases. It is generally used for children or male infants with foreskin circumcision. The foreskin circumcision process in men is very harmful to the genitals and can easily affect the normal life of the couple. Circumcision can improve this situation. After circumcision, more rest and care are required for 1-2 months before sexual intercourse can be resumed.

How long after circumcision can I have sex?

Usually, sexual intercourse can be considered one month after circumcision. Of course, if the patient has recovered well in advance, it can also be considered in advance.

Applicable conditions

1. Complete or incomplete foreskin is too long. If the foreskin is difficult to retract and clean, circumcision is necessary to avoid complications;

2. If you have a sexually transmitted disease, such as herpes simplex or bronchitis, you need to have a circumcision, because if the foreskin is too long, these viruses may hide under the foreskin, making it impossible to completely eradicate them and causing them to recur again and again;

3. When abnormal spots or changes appear on the foreskin, this may be a precursor to penile cancer.

4. If the foreskin is too long, it will affect the urinary system. It will cause difficulty in urination and deformity of the urethra. Circumcision is also required.

If the patient can completely retract the foreskin during an erection, then circumcision is not necessary. The patient only needs to pull the foreskin back when bathing to enhance cleanliness.

Preoperative preparation

1. Clean the area the night before and on the day of surgery

2. Patients with concurrent phimosis need to receive treatment in advance and then undergo surgery after the inflammation subsides.

3. Clean the vulva and foreskin. Foreskin that is too long should be turned over to clean and remove as much smegma as possible. Foreskin can be cleaned by inserting a blunt needle or a small plastic tube into the foreskin and injecting disinfectant to rinse.

4. Shave pubic hair one day before or on the day of surgery

Process

1. The operation takes about 20 to 30 minutes and does not require hospitalization.

2. There will be slight pain and bruising at the wound after the operation. You should take painkillers regularly and it will heal in about 7 to 10 days.

3. Before the wound heals, you should return for regular follow-up examinations.

4. The wound should be kept clean and dry after the operation, and be careful not to wet the gauze when urinating.

5. The wound is sutured with absorbable sutures, so there is no need to remove the sutures.

6. If the penis is erect, please protect the wound with one hand and pinch the glans with the other hand to allow the penis to retract naturally to avoid the wound from splitting.

7. If the wound is swollen, painful and bleeding, you can apply local cold compress and pressure to stop the bleeding; if the bleeding is severe, you should return to the hospital for treatment immediately.

8. Prepare a few extra pairs of underwear for replacement (or buy wash-free underwear), because tissue fluid may seep out and dirty the underwear during the recovery period.

9. It is best to avoid sexual thoughts during the recovery period, otherwise the natural physiological reaction will make you suffer! Patients can resume their sexual life one month after the operation.

Postoperative Care

1. The operation takes about 20 to 30 minutes and does not require hospitalization.

2. There will be slight pain and bruising at the wound after the operation. You should take painkillers regularly. It will heal in about 7 to 10 days.
