If men want to exert their maximum energy, a healthy body becomes an indispensable condition. Anemia is a common disease nowadays, especially common in women, but men also have it. What will happen to a man if he is anemic? The following is what we are going to talk about the harm of anemia in men!

Anemia refers to a common clinical symptom in which the volume of peripheral red blood cells in the human body decreases to below the lower limit of the normal range. Since the measurement of red blood cell volume is complicated, hemoglobin (Hb) concentration is often used as a substitute in clinical practice. Chinese hematologists believe that in my country's sea level areas, adult male Hb <120g/L, adult female (non-pregnant) Hb <110g/L, and pregnant women Hb <100g/L are anemic.

When anemia occurs, the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity is weakened, which can harm the functions of organs in all systems of the body. Depending on the severity and duration of anemia, the patient's age, and the presence or absence of underlying diseases (especially cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and lung diseases), there are different degrees of impact:

1. General symptoms: Fatigue and tiredness are the most common symptoms of anemia. When anemia is severe, some patients may also have a low fever.

2. Cardiovascular system: Palpitations and shortness of breath after activities are the most common symptoms. Some patients with severe anemia may also experience angina and heart failure. During examination, there may be mild phonation, lower limb edema, and changes in the electrocardiogram.

3. Nervous system: headache, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, inattention, insomnia or syncope. Severe anemia may cause confusion or dementia. Anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency is often accompanied by limb numbness, sensory disorders, etc.

4. Digestive system: loss of appetite, abdominal distension, and nausea are common. Patients with hemolytic anemia may have jaundice and enlarged spleen.

5. Urinary and reproductive system: The kidney's concentration function is reduced, and patients often have polyuria, decreased urine specific gravity, and decreased libido. Female patients often have irregular, excessive, or reduced menstruation.

6. Others: dry skin, sparse hair, and lack of luster.
