Special "masculine smell" indicates the arrival of disease

When it comes to body odor, many people think of sweat or fragrance. In fact, body odor is not all caused by sweat. Some body odors are signs of disease. Everyone should be careful! Let's take a look at which body odors indicate the arrival of disease.

1. Alcohol taste

A strong smell of alcohol from the body or breath occurs after heavy drinking or when a person is intoxicated.

2. Bad smell

In patients with cystic and colonic fistula, feces in the intestines can enter the bladder through the fistula tube and dissolve in the urine, so the urine excreted usually has a fecal odor.

In addition, patients with ureteral fistulas may have feces leaking from the fistulas, and patients with fecal incontinence cannot control their bowel movements and may emit an unpleasant fecal odor.

3. Maple syrup flavor

Also known as burning caramel, it is the most common odor emitted by patients with maple syrupuria. Maple syrupuria is an autosomal recessive genetic disease.

Its harm lies in that it can poison brain cells, cause serious damage to brain tissue, cause patients to have a significant decline in intelligence, and even become dementia.

4. Sweaty feet

Also known as foot odor syndrome, it may be an autosomal recessive genetic disease. Its main clinical manifestations are special foot sweat odor, mental retardation and ataxia.

Due to abnormal metabolism of short-chain fatty acids, the activity of isovaleryl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase in the body disappears, and isovaleryl-coenzyme A cannot be further oxidized, resulting in the accumulation of isovaleric acid and its derivatives in the body.

The patient's vomit, breath, urine, skin and even blood all emit a special smell, a strong odor like cheese or sweaty feet.

5. Urine smell

Patients with chronic nephritis or kidney disease progress to the stage of chronic renal failure (commonly known as uremia). Due to anuria, certain toxic substances (such as urea nitrogen, creatinine, etc.) cannot be excreted from the body and are retained in the blood, causing the patient's exhaled gas to emit a urine or ammonia smell, which is a signal that the condition is becoming critical.

In addition, patients with ureteral fistulas have urine leaking from the ureteral fistulas, and patients with urinary incontinence cannot control their urination and may also emit an unpleasant urine odor.

6. Fishy smell

It is mainly seen in fish odor syndrome, which is a congenital recessive genetic disease. Because the human liver lacks trimethylamine oxidase, trimethylamine cannot be metabolized by the liver in the body and accumulates in large quantities.

The patient's sweat, urine, and exhaled breath excrete a large amount of trimethylamine, a substance with a fishy odor.

7. Other strange smells

The sour taste of vomited contents indicates that the food has been retained in the stomach for a long time and fermented, which is common in patients with pyloric obstruction or achalasia. The presence of fecal odor in vomitus should be considered for intestinal obstruction.

Stools with a putrid odor are often caused by indigestion or chronic pancreatitis leading to pancreatic insufficiency. Stools with a fishy odor are common in patients with dysentery.

Sputum with a bloody smell is often seen in patients with massive hemoptysis, while sputum with a foul odor is often seen in patients with pulmonary abscess or bronchiectasis.

In short, when you find yourself or people around you have the above abnormal body odor, you should be alert to the possible signs of disease. It is best to go to the hospital for further examination in time to detect the disease early, treat it early, and avoid misunderstanding the disease.

8. Liver odor

Patients with fulminant hepatitis or severe liver damage caused by other reasons often exhale a special odor, commonly known as liver odor.

Bear bile powder capsules have a special odor in the body because methyl mercaptan and dimethyl disulfide cannot be metabolized by the liver. The liver odor indicates that the liver function is severely damaged and is a manifestation of a serious condition.

9. Rotten cabbage smell

Due to the lack of tyrosine transferase in the body, tyrosine metabolism is impaired and tyrosine is retained in the blood, causing the body to emit a strange smell similar to rotten cabbage.

Patients generally show slow growth and development and are prone to rickets, liver dysfunction and hypoglycemia, and often suffer from hypoglycemia syncope or convulsions.

10. Rotten apple flavor

When the condition of a diabetic patient is serious, a large amount of fat is oxidized in the liver to produce ketone bodies, which diffuse into the blood, causing acetone in the exhaled breath. The patient's exhaled breath will have a rotten apple smell. The rotten apple smell is one of the characteristics of diabetic ketoacidosis.

11. Cat urine smell

Common in hyperglycineemia, an amino acid metabolism disorder. Patients show symptoms of mental retardation, osteoporosis, decreased white blood cells and platelets in the blood, and are prone to infection or bleeding.

12. Body odor

Common in patients with underarm odor, due to the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands in the armpits, through the action of bacteria, emitting a special body odor. In youth, the sebaceous glands secrete vigorously, and the body odor is particularly strong.

13. Acidic sweat odor

It is common in patients with febrile diseases such as rheumatic fever or those who take oral antipyretic and analgesic drugs for a long time.

14. Bad breath

Unpleasant odor from the mouth is generally seen in digestive tract diseases such as stomatitis, gastritis, and gastric ulcers.

15. Garlic

It is common in patients with organophosphate pesticide poisoning, whose exhaled gas and vomitus may emit a pungent garlic smell.
