What are the symptoms of male scrotal eczema?

Scrotal eczema is also a type of eczema, but it mainly occurs on the skin of the scrotum and can spread to the nearby perineum. Generally speaking, scrotal eczema can be divided into acute and chronic, and the symptoms of the two are also different. Most chronic cases evolve from acute ones.

According to the different courses of scrotal eczema, it is divided into three types: acute scrotal eczema, subacute scrotal eczema and chronic scrotal eczema. The symptoms of different types of scrotal eczema are different and need to be treated differently.

1. Chronic scrotal eczema: It is usually caused by repeated attacks of acute or subacute eczema, or it may present as chronic inflammation from the beginning. The skin of the affected area becomes moist, thickened, dark red, and pigmented. If it does not heal for a long time, the skin lesions become coarse, dry, and prone to cracking.

2. Acute scrotal eczema: Various types of rashes, such as erythema, papules, pustules, erosions and scabs, often appear in sequence, but often 2-3 types of rashes coexist at the same time or a certain type of rash is dominant at a certain stage. Frequent scratching due to severe itching often aggravates the condition.

3. Subacute scrotal eczema: After the symptoms of acute eczema are alleviated, the rash is mainly composed of papules, scaling and scabs, but erosion still occurs after scratching.
