1. Etiology treatment:

(2) Tamoxifen: an anti-estrogen drug. Usage: 10 mg, twice a day, for 2 to 4 months as a course of treatment.

(3) Danazol: Also known as ethynyltestosterone, it can inhibit ovarian function, reduce the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), and reduce serum prolactin (PRL) levels, which can shrink breasts. Take 200-300 mg orally, 2-3 times/day, and the treatment time is 3-9 months.

(4) Formestane (Lantalone): It is a specific aromatase inhibitor that can block estrogen synthesis and reduce estrogen content, thereby achieving a therapeutic effect. Usage: 250 mg intramuscular injection every 2 weeks.

(5) Treatment with Chinese medicine: Literature reports that 30 cases of male breast hypertrophy were treated with Xiaolai Decoction, of which 18 were cured, 8 were markedly effective, 2 were improved, and 2 were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 93.3%. The prescription composition: Curculigo, Epimedium, Morinda officinalis (each) 12g, antler powder 3g (separate package for swallowing), Bupleurum, Citrus aurantium (each) 10g, White Peony Root, Angelicae Sinensis, Fritillaria dahurica, Vaccaria segetalis (each) 15g, Quanguawei 30g, Paojia Pian 10g. 1 dose/d, decocted in water, taken warm twice/d, 2 months as a course of treatment, and the efficacy was observed after 1 course of treatment.

3.Surgery:

In addition to etiological treatment and drug treatment, male breast hypertrophy can also be treated with surgery.

(1) Indications: ① Male breasts with a diameter greater than 4 cm that cannot be reduced for a long time; ② Those whose breast enlargement obviously affects their appearance; ③ Those who have no obvious effect after regular medication treatment; ④ Those who suspect that the disease has deteriorated and are psychologically nervous and uneasy.

(2) Surgical methods: ① Subcutaneous mastectomy (nipple and areola reserved), suitable for young patients; ② Simple mastectomy (without nipple and areola reserved), mostly suitable for elderly patients. The specimen removed during surgery is sent for pathological biopsy for diagnosis.
