What are the symptoms of scrotal eczema?

Scrotal eczema can present with different symptoms, but the most common one is itching. As the disease progresses, the itching symptoms will become more severe, which is detrimental to the patient's life and work, so correct treatment is needed.

1. Acute scrotal eczema

The main symptom is itching, and patients often discover the disease because of itching in the scrotum. As the disease progresses, the itching gradually worsens, and scratching cannot relieve the itching. In severe cases, it affects sleep and work.

2. Chronic scrotal eczema

It is caused by long-term unhealed acute or subacute eczema and repeated attacks. Due to the long time and constant scratching, the skin of the scrotum becomes dry and thickened, with deep wrinkles and walnut-like skin, often with thin scabs and scales, and the skin pigmentation deepens; there are also cases where the pigmentation is reduced due to scratching. There is often severe itching and insomnia. Due to the difficulty in treatment and repeated failure to heal, the scrotal skin may change like eczema.

3. Subacute scrotal eczema

It is a transformation from acute scrotal eczema, characterized by mild thickening and mild erosion of the scrotal skin, more scaling, little exudate, and still severe itching.
