In the prescription, Huanglian clears and drains the heart fire; Shengdi nourishes yin and clears heat; Angelica nourishes yin and moistens dryness; Ziziphus jujuba, Radix Polygoni Tenuifolia, and Poria soothe the heart and calm the mind; Lotus seed, Asparagus cochinchinensis, and Rehmannia glutinosa nourish water and yin; Ginseng and Licorice soothe the heart and replenish qi; Phellodendron strengthens yin and drains fire, thereby clearing the heart fire, reducing the phase fire, moistening the yin deficiency, and stopping the spermatorrhea. If the spermatorrhea is frequent and the mind is restless, dragon bone and oyster can be added, which can not only calm the mind and resolve, but also collect the astringent semen. You can also use Guizhi Longgu Muqu Tang or Chaihu Jia Longgu Muqu Tang with modifications. If the main symptom is deficiency of Yin and excess of Fire, you can use Zhibai Dihuang Pills or Dabuyin Pills with modifications.

(II) Liver fire syndrome

Treatment: Clear the liver and purge fire. Prescription: Longdan Xiegan Decoction or Huagan Decoction with modifications. Gentiana, Cassia, and Scutellaria clear liver fire; Bupleurum soothes the liver and relieves depression; Angelica and Rehmannia nourish liver blood; Zexie, Plantago, and Akebia lead fire downward and purge dampness and heat in the liver meridian.

(III) Damp-heat syndrome

The treatment principle is to clear away heat and transform dampness. The prescription is Radix Dioscoreae Qingyin or Bazhengsan with modifications. Zexietong is good at removing dampness and heat; Huangbai is good at clearing away dampness and heat. The three medicines are good at moving to the lower part of the body, mainly clearing dampness and heat in the lower part of the body; Fuling and Baizhu invigorate the spleen and dry dampness to eliminate the source of dampness. If the dampness and heat are more in the liver and gallbladder, Longdan Xiegan Tang can also be used with modifications. This type of spermatorrhea should not be treated with tonic products.
