How to check for varicocele? Three essential items

Varicose vein varicocele is a disease that causes more damage to the body than to the eyes. It causes a lot of troubles for male patients in life and even becomes the fuse of quarrels between couples. How can men know whether they have varicocele? Here are three ways to check for varicocele.

(I) Physical examination

Generally, the patient is in a standing position to check for swollen blood vessels above the testicles. In mild varicocele, the swollen blood vessels can only be felt when exerting force. In more serious cases, the swollen blood vessels can be felt directly in the scrotum, and in severe cases, they can be seen with the naked eye.

(ii) Ultrasound examination

The degree of varicocele can be assessed. Since swelling in the affected area may also be caused by tumor, lymphadenitis, hernia or scrotal edema, the doctor will arrange other examinations if necessary to rule out the possibility of other diseases.

(III) Routine examination during surgery

If surgery is confirmed, the following tests are usually arranged: 1. Routine blood test: Before surgery, blood will be drawn to check for blood problems, such as anemia, low platelets (i.e., easy bleeding), etc. If there are abnormalities, they must be corrected before surgery. 2. Routine urine test: Urine tests can be used to understand whether there is hematuria, infection, etc. 3. Electrocardiogram: This test is performed before surgery to assess whether there are heart problems in order to understand the risk and feasibility of surgery. 4. Chest X-ray: Assess whether there are heart and lung problems to assess the risk of surgery and facilitate surgery.
