What is the reason for the semen to be transparent and thin?

Under normal circumstances, the ejaculated semen should be a viscous milky white liquid, which will liquefy after about 15-30 minutes and become a translucent turbid liquid, and will also become thinner. Transparent semen is an abnormal phenomenon. If the semen is completely transparent and very scarce after liquefaction, then you should pay attention to it. It is likely caused by urogenital inflammation, such as orchitis, epididymitis, seminal vesiculitis, prostatitis, urethritis, etc. This type of patient accounts for the largest proportion of oligospermia, and must be checked and treated in time.

Whether the semen is normal or not is determined by several aspects: semen color, semen quantity, semen liquefaction time and viscosity;

1. Color of semen: Normal semen color is grayish white or slightly yellowish. If semen appears milky white or yellowish green, it indicates inflammation in the male reproductive tract or accessory glands. If it appears pink or red, or red blood cells can be seen under a microscope, it is bloody semen, which is common in patients with accessory glands and posterior urethritis, and occasionally in patients with tuberculosis or tumors. Transparent yellow semen may also be a manifestation of inflammation.

2. Semen volume: The normal volume should be more than or equal to 2ml (milliliters). If it is more than 7ml, it is too much. At this time, not only the sperm density becomes low, but it is also easy to flow out of the female vagina, resulting in a decrease in the total number of sperm, which is common in patients with seminal vesiculitis. If the total volume is less than 2ml, it is a small amount of semen, and less than 1ml is too little, which is easy to cause male infertility.

3. Semen liquefaction time: After normal semen is ejaculated, it will become jelly-like under the action of seminal vesicle coagulase, and after 15-30 minutes, it will become liquid under the action of prostate liquefaction enzyme, which is called semen liquefaction. If semen still does not liquefy 30 minutes after ejaculation, it is abnormal.

4. Viscosity: When a glass rod touches the liquefied semen and gently lifts it, a semen thread will form. If the semen is normal, the length of the semen thread should be less than 2 cm.
