What are the symptoms of overactive bladder?

Overactive bladder (OAB) is a syndrome characterized by urinary urgency, often accompanied by frequent urination and nocturia, with or without urge incontinence. It significantly affects the patient's daily life and social activities and has become a major disease that troubles people. What are the causes of overactive bladder?

Causes

The cause of the disease is still unclear, but it is currently believed that the following four factors may be involved:

1. Detrusor instability: caused by non-neurogenic factors, abnormal contraction of the detrusor during urine storage causes corresponding clinical symptoms.

2. Bladder hypersensitivity: The urge to urinate occurs even with a smaller bladder capacity.

3. Abnormal function of the urethra and pelvic floor muscles.

4. Other reasons: such as mental and behavioral abnormalities, hormone metabolism disorders, etc.

Clinical manifestations

Typical symptoms include urinary urgency, daytime urinary frequency, nocturia, and urge incontinence.

1. Urinary urgency: refers to a sudden and strong desire to urinate, which is difficult to subjectively suppress and delay urination.

2. Urge urinary incontinence: refers to urinary incontinence that occurs immediately after or accompanied by urinary urgency.

3. Frequent urination: It is a complaint that refers to the patient's feeling that the number of urination times per day is too frequent. Based on subjective feelings, adults are considered to have frequent urination when the number of urination times reaches: no less than 8 times during the day and no less than 2 times at night, and the urine volume each time is less than 200ml.

4. Nocturia: refers to the patient's complaint of urinating more than twice a night due to the urge to urinate.

After discovering symptoms of overactive bladder infection, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible. Treatment methods include behavioral therapy, drug therapy, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, surgical treatment and many other treatment methods.
