What are the symptoms of male gonococcal urethritis

In life, we often encounter various physical diseases. Male gonococcal urethritis is a disease of the male reproductive organs. This disease is transmitted through blood and saliva. It also causes patients to often feel that they have to hold their urine or that their urine is not clean. Sexual life will also become disharmonious. So what are the specific symptoms of male gonococcal urethritis? Let's take a closer look.

Symptoms of Gonorrheal Urethritis in Men:

(1) Dysuria is often an early symptom of the disease. There is a burning sensation, stinging or burning pain in the front of the urethra. The pain becomes more severe during urination and may even radiate to the lower abdomen or spine. When the pain occurs at night, the patient may experience a "painful erection" of the penis.

(2) The urethral opening is red and swollen with purulent discharge. After 12 to 24 hours, the pain is slightly relieved, and a thin mucous secretion begins to be discharged. After another 12 to 24 hours, a large amount of purulent secretion is discharged. In 24 hours, 20 to 50 ml of purulent fluid can be discharged. After 2 to 3 days, the amount of purulent fluid decreases and becomes thicker. The color changes from white to yellowish white or yellowish brown. After another 3 to 4 days, the purulent fluid becomes less and thicker. In the morning, pus accumulates at the urethral opening to form a pus membrane, which is called "mud mouth". The pain is relieved, the urethral opening is red and swollen, and it is everted. The inner leaf of the foreskin is also red and swollen. It can develop into balanitis, incarcerated foreskin, etc.

(3) Frequent and urgent urination is similar to that of a general urinary tract infection. This is because the inflammation causes the urethral sphincter to contract, and the frequent and urgent urination is more severe at night. In addition, because the inflammation affects the small blood vessels in the mucosa there, "terminal hematuria" often occurs. Sometimes there may be hematospermia.

(4) Perineal swelling and pain Clinically, the presence of perineal swelling and pain indicates that the lesion has invaded the posterior urethra, prostate, and seminal vesicle.

(5) Systemic symptoms Some patients may also experience systemic symptoms, such as fever (body temperature around 38°C), general fatigue, malaise, loss of appetite, and even nausea and vomiting.

Physical examination: The urethral opening and fossa are red, swollen, congested, and edematous, and sometimes there are small, superficial abscesses, erosions, or small ulcers. In severe cases, the urethral mucosa is everted, and the redness and swelling spread to the entire glans penis. The glans penis and foreskin are everted, and the foreskin cannot be turned up. When the urethra is pressed, purulent fluid may flow out. The inguinal lymph nodes on both sides may also be affected, causing redness, swelling, pain, and suppuration. There is obvious tenderness, and it decreases as the urethritis symptoms subside. The inflammation of the lymph nodes disappears 2 to 3 days after the inflammation disappears.

Disease progression: The symptoms are most severe in the first week. If not treated or treated in time or not thoroughly, the symptoms will gradually ease after about 2 to 3 weeks, the urethral secretions will decrease, the tissue swelling will also subside, and the symptoms will completely disappear after one month. However, gonorrhea has already invaded the deep glands and even lurked in the scar tissue and grew slowly, developing into chronic gonorrhea. In the later stage, urethral stenosis may occur.
