Why do boys have a lot of foam in their urine?

Why do boys have a lot of foam in their urine?

In many cases, foamy urine is a normal physiological phenomenon. For example, before the routine urine test or foamy urine, there may be some sperm or semen in the urine. The main component of sperm and semen is protein, so there will be foam in the urine. In addition, if it is a symptom, the most common one is the symptom of proteinuria after diabetes and kidney function damage.

Under normal circumstances, our urine is usually transparent, but sometimes it may be abnormal. Many friends will be very anxious when there is foam in the urine, and they don’t know what is going on with them. But generally there is no problem, and it will not have any effect or harm on the human body. When we urinate, it is not only metabolism but also detoxification. Let’s take a look at the harm of foamy urine to the human body.

Urination too quickly will also increase the foam

Increased foam in the urine is not a disease if it is due to the following conditions:

Semen in the urethra: If there is semen in the urethra of men, foamy urine may occur, such as retrograde ejaculation (common in patients with diabetes and autonomic nervous system dysfunction); habitual excitement increases the secretion of mucus in the urethral gland, frequent ejaculation, etc.

Urinate too quickly: When urinating too quickly, the urine has a strong impact on the liquid level, and the gas and urine mix together, which is easy to produce foam, but it is easy to disappear. In addition, if you stand too high when urinating, the impact of urine on the liquid level is too great under the effect of gravity, which is also easy to produce foam.

Urine extraction: When drinking too little water, sweating too much, diarrhea, etc., the body will cause urine extraction due to lack of water, resulting in higher concentrations of protein and other components in the urine, which is very likely to cause increased foam in the urine.

Other reasons: The disinfectant or descaling agent in the toilet is also one of the reasons for the foam in the urine.

Preventive measures

Foamy urine that sometimes appears is mostly physiological, and most of the causes of foamy urine can be found, such as urinating too quickly, urine extraction, etc. If the foamy urine disappears after eliminating the above causes, and there are no other abnormal symptoms or symptoms, there is no need to worry too much.

On the other hand, if there are too many foamy urine caused by the following reasons, you need to be alert and seek medical attention immediately.

Proteinuria: The abnormal increase of protein content in urine is one of the most common causes of foamy urine, and is also a key clinical symptom of various diseases, especially chronic kidney diseases. Various primary chronic kidney diseases, such as various primary glomerulonephritis, and various secondary renal function damage, such as diabetes, hypertension, gout, hepatitis, etc., can cause renal function damage and increase in protein in urine. Multiple myeloma, subacute intravascular hemolysis, septicemia, etc., although renal function is normal, due to the presence of a large amount of abnormal protein in the blood, protein is also exposed in the urine, resulting in proteinuria.

Foamy urine is usually present when there is proteinuria. The characteristic of this type of foamy urine is that there is a layer of fine foam plastic floating on the surface of the urine, which does not disappear for a long time.

Urinary and reproductive system infection: Urinary and reproductive system infection can cause an increase in foam in the urine. Common ones include urethral infection, cystitis, prostatitis, etc. Most of them are accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, and painful urination.

Increased urine sugar: Organic chemicals (glucose) and inorganic substances (various mineral acids and salts) in urine can also increase urine support and produce foam, but this type of foam is usually large and disappears quickly. Diabetic patients have increased blood sugar and secondary increased urine sugar, which can easily cause foamy urine.

Other rare causes: Other causes of foamy urine include bladder and colon fistula, but they are very rare and require special tests to diagnose.
