Reasons why men grind their teeth while sleeping

In life, we will find that many male friends always have a phenomenon of grinding their teeth when they sleep. If they like to grind their teeth, then it will make many people feel difficult to show it, especially when people at home have the phenomenon of grinding their teeth, it will cause many people headaches, because many people can't sleep alone, and facing the phenomenon of men's love of grinding their teeth, many people don't know what the reason is, so what is the reason for men to grind their teeth when they sleep?

1. Mental factors: The oral cavity has the function of expressing nervous emotions. If the patient's fear, anger, hostility, resistance and other emotions, especially those with anxiety, cannot be expressed for some reason, they will try to relieve their inner depression by grinding their teeth. Such patients have long and frequent tooth contact. These mental factors may be one of the important factors in the etiology of bruxism.

2. Occlusal factors: In individuals with nervousness, any occlusal disturbance may be a triggering factor for bruxism; the occlusal factors of bruxism patients are mostly the mismatch between the centric relationship and the centric occlusion, and the early contact of the non-working side during lateral occlusion; and the clinical method of adjusting the occlusal relationship has also successfully cured some bruxism. Occlusal factors are important factors in oral health, but whether they cause bruxism is still controversial; the disorder of the bite-jaw relationship during the tooth replacement period causes disordered movement of the masticatory muscles, spasms and contractions;

3. Central nervous system mechanism: There is a tendency to believe that bruxism is an involuntary subconscious action like sleepwalking, incontinence, and nightmares. It is a symptom of partial awakening of the brain during sleep, a central source of sleep disorder related to daytime emotions, and is triggered by internal or external, psychological or physiological sleep disturbance stimuli.

4. Other systemic factors Gastrointestinal disorders related to parasites, nutritional deficiencies in children, blood sugar and calcium concentrations, endocrine disorders, allergies, etc. may all be factors in the onset of bruxism. Some cases show genetic factors. In addition, hyperuricemia, hyperthyroidism, allergies, irritable bladder syndrome, etc. may be related to bruxism.

5. Occupational factors: Car drivers, athletes, and people who work in jobs that require high precision, such as watchmakers, are all prone to wear and tear.

Common reasons for children to grind their teeth:

1. Intestinal parasitic diseases, especially ascariasis, are quite common in children;

2. Gastrointestinal diseases and oral diseases;

3. Feeding children with indigestible food before going to bed may stimulate the corresponding parts of the brain after the baby falls asleep, causing the chewing muscles to continue to contract through the nerves;

4. Nervous system diseases, such as psychomotor epilepsy, hysteria, etc.;

5. Mental factors such as children being emotionally agitated, overly tired or emotionally tense during the day.

6. Lack of vitamins. Children with vitamin D deficiency rickets will often suffer from excessive sweating, night terrors, irritability and night grinding of teeth due to disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the body, which can cause bone decalcification, muscle soreness and autonomic nerve disorders.

7. Misaligned teeth, excessive use of the chewing muscles, long-term chewing with one side of the teeth, and poor occlusion of the teeth, resulting in temporomandibular joint dysfunction, can also cause nocturnal bruxism. Moreover, children with misaligned teeth often have abnormal positions of their chewing muscles. When sleeping at night, the chewing muscles often contract unconsciously, causing bruxism.

8. In addition, during the period of tooth replacement between 8 and 11 years old, children may brux their teeth slightly due to itchy gums. Mild bruxism is normal during this period. If it is more serious, it needs treatment. After this stage, it will usually disappear on its own.

9. The influence of children's emotions and daily routines. Nowadays, children are usually nervous and stressed about their studies. At the same time, many children watch thrilling fighting TV shows at night and play too much before going to bed. These factors can cause teeth grinding. In addition, if parents scold children for something for a long time, causing depression, restlessness and anxiety, they will also grind their teeth at night.

The above introduces the reasons why men grind their teeth, and also introduces many reasons why children like to grind their teeth. Children will also show symptoms of teeth grinding. If children grind their teeth, it will cause a lot of harm to their physical development. Children's teeth grinding affects their intelligence, and adults' teeth grinding also has an impact. Some men are prone to teeth grinding when they are under great work pressure, so these phenomena must be avoided and improved accordingly.
