Causes of occult blood in urine in men

Causes of occult blood in urine in men

In daily life, many men do not have basic knowledge of the disease, so they are caught off guard when the disease comes. Occult blood in urine is one of them. Such a situation is definitely very worrying, and the cause becomes the most concerned thing. So, what are the causes of occult blood in urine for men?

Occult blood in urine cannot be observed with the naked eye or under a microscope, but there is a reaction when tested with a test strip. Why is this so? Because when red blood cells are damaged, the hemoglobin they contain will be released, so the urine test strip can detect the reaction of hemoglobin. But why do red blood cells break before leaving the human body? This is because the life of the red blood cells themselves has come to an end, and they dissolve on their own like foam. It may also be that after drinking too much water, the urine becomes increasingly deficient and the supporting force decreases, so the red blood cells break. In any case, when there is occult blood, it is a warning sign like hematuria, and it should not be ignored.

Generally speaking, occult blood in urine is attributed to the following three reasons: inflammation, stones, and tumors. Regarding inflammation, such as glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, etc., in addition to the possibility of hematuria, occult blood may also be found in urine tests. Stones themselves, whether they are kidney function, urethral tube or bladder stones, may cause occult blood. Other situations such as constipation during menstruation may also cause occult blood.

In addition, tumors can also cause occult blood, such as benign or malignant tumors of the kidney, bladder, and urethra. Older men, due to prostate hyperplasia, also suffer from excessive urination, prone to bladder inflammation, swollen blood vessels on the surface of the male prostate, and difficulty urinating. After using force to urinate, they may experience hematuria or occult blood. In fact, prostate hyperplasia is also regarded as a type of tumor. It is a tumor of the male prostate, which becomes thickened due to hyperplasia. Therefore, you cannot be complacent with tumors of the urinary system. At this time, intravenous pyelography should be performed. If there is no problem with the angiography, the transitional cell tumor can be ruled out. Routine urine tests should also be repeated regularly. If there is still occult blood, the patient should go to the nephrology department for treatment and perform a renal puncture biopsy if necessary.

The most unbelievable thing is hematuria caused by nephritis. Many patients, including many young children, suffer from recurrent illness due to renal dysfunction or incomplete treatment of the disease. They have hematuria but cannot find the cause. At this time, proteinuria and edema may also occur. At this time, they should not simply use medication for treatment, but should go to a specialist clinic for re-examination and systematic treatment for renal dysfunction and past medical history.
