What causes blood in men’s stool?

People nowadays seem to have a fixed mindset. Once male friends bleed during defecation, they tend to think it is caused by hemorrhoids, because the proportion of men suffering from hemorrhoids is very high, and blood in the stool caused by hemorrhoids is very common. However, this often leads to misdiagnosis and delays the treatment of the disease, because this is not the only reason that can cause blood in the stool.

① Anal fissure:

Anal fissures are the most common cause of blood in the stool in children. Children with this condition experience pain after defecation as well as blood in the stool. Anal fissures in adults are often caused by long-term constipation. The blood in the stool caused by anal fissures is fresh, and a small amount of blood can be seen on the surface of the stool or on toilet paper during defecation, and there may also be fresh blood dripping down.

②Colon vascular dysplasia:

The amount of blood in the stool caused by colon vascular dysplasia is large and the blood is bright red.

③Colorectal cancer:

In the early stage of colorectal mugwort, blood in the stool may appear as a small amount of blood covering the surface of the stool. As the disease progresses, the amount of blood in the stool will gradually increase, and at the same time, the stool may become smaller and intestinal obstruction may occur.

④Colorectal polyps:

There are single and multiple colon polyps. The characteristic of blood in stool is that it occurs intermittently, is bright red, is not much, and is not mixed with feces. Some patients have small fleshy swellings (polyps) protrude from the anus during defecation, and then retract into the rectum after defecation.

⑤Ulcerative colitis:

The blood in the stool caused by this disease may be bright or dark, and is often mixed with feces. The feces may also contain mucus and pus. Patients with this disease often have symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.

⑥Hemorrhoids:

After suffering from hemorrhoids, blood in the stool will appear due to the great force used during defecation. This is the most common disease of blood in the stool.
