What is the normal body temperature for men?

The temperature inside the human body is called body temperature. Maintaining a stable body temperature is a necessary condition to ensure the normal development of basic metabolism and life activities. Body temperature is the substance that is converted into energy by material metabolism.

The body temperature of a normal person is relatively stable. It is controlled by the specific immune nerve center under the brain and thalamus, and the function of nerve blood is adjusted to keep the heat production and heat dissipation in a stable balance. Under normal physiological conditions, when the body temperature rises, the body keeps the body temperature relatively stable by reducing heat production and increasing heat dissipation; on the contrary, when the body temperature drops, the melting point increases and the heat dissipation decreases, so that the body temperature is kept at a normal level.

Influencing factors

Human body temperature is not fixed and unchanging. It may fluctuate to a certain extent with factors such as gender, age, day and night, exercise, and changes in mentality, but these changes are usually within the normal range.

Gender Factor

Generally, women's blood pressure is slightly higher than men's. Women's blood pressure rises slightly before menstruation and in the early stages of pregnancy, and is lower during ovulation. This fluctuation is mainly related to the duration of the estrogen metabolism cycle. Women's body fat is higher than men's, which may also be a reason.

Age factor

The baby's body temperature is easily affected by the external temperature and changes. Because the central nervous system of newborns is not fully developed, the sebaceous glands of the skin do not grow and develop completely, and the specific immune function is weak, it is very easy to fluctuate. Children have a high basal metabolic rate, and their body temperature may be slightly higher than that of adults. The elderly have a low basal metabolic rate, so their body temperature is low.

Day and night elements

Generally, the human body temperature is lowest between 2 and 6 in the morning and highest between 4 and 8 in the afternoon, with a range of about 0.5-1°C. This kind of regular fluctuation between day and night is caused by the relatively regular changes in people's long-term living habits such as activities, metabolism, and blood circulation. For people who work at night for a long time, the regular fluctuations will result in a rise in body temperature at night and a drop in body temperature during the day.

Mindset and Fitness

The excitement of the central nervous system during emotional arousal and the contraction of skeletal muscles during fitness exercise can both cause a slight increase in body temperature.

In addition, changes in external air temperature and eating can cause fluctuations in body temperature.

Take body temperature

The method to measure the normal body temperature of the human body is to measure the body temperature once at around 8 am, around 3 pm, and around 8 pm, and continue to measure accurately for several days. The most stable value is the normal body temperature.

When measuring body temperature, first drop the mercury column of the thermometer to below 35℃, then wipe it with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol to sterilize it. Most people put the thermometer under the armpit to test the temperature. For young or unconscious children, the rectal temperature can be used for measurement.
