Can prostate calcification heal itself?

Can prostate calcification heal itself?

Prostate calcification is also a type of prostate disease. It is mainly a calcification phenomenon caused by the long-term chronic accumulation of male prostate fluid. When prostate calcification occurs, there are generally no obvious symptoms, but it is very harmful to physical health. Prostate calcification will not heal itself and requires medical treatment.

Can prostate calcification be cured?

Prostate calcification is caused by the precipitation of chronic congestion of prostate fluid in the prostate gland ducts. It is common in chronic prostatitis and chronic prostate hyperplasia. Prostate calcification is a normal physiological phenomenon, not a serious disease. If there are no symptoms, no treatment is required. If there are symptoms, prostatitis needs to be treated. Generally, calcification is not a big problem if there is no inflammation. It is impossible to reverse the calcification points unless surgery is performed. Generally, the calcification points are not large and the secretory function is not affected.

Epidemiology

Prostate calcification is more common in men aged 40 to 60. Since prostate calcification has no obvious symptoms, its incidence varies depending on the detection method. The incidence of prostate calcification detected by imaging tests is 36% to 71%, while histological tests can only detect about 30%.

At the same time, there are age differences in the incidence of prostate calcification. Patients under 40 years old mainly have single calcification, which is closely related to prostatitis, while patients over 40 years old mainly have multiple calcification, which is closely related to prostate hyperplasia.

Disease Type

Since prostate calcification is mainly detected by imaging methods, the calcification lesions are divided into the following four types according to the morphology and distribution characteristics of prostate calcification in ultrasound examination:

Solitary type: Ultrasound results show a single elliptical structure.

Scattered type: Ultrasound results show multiple scattered plaques in the prostate.

Aggregate type: Ultrasound results show that multiple plaques in the prostate are aggregated into clusters.

Strip type: The ultrasound result is an arc-shaped light band.

Prostate calcification must be clearly identified as physiological or pathological. If it is asymptomatic physiological prostate calcification, no treatment is required, but if it is accompanied by symptoms such as prostatitis, timely intervention is required. The first step is antibiotic treatment, which can be combined with physical therapy, often using warm water sitz baths for treatment.
