Prostate cancer staging criteria

Prostate cancer staging criteria

Prostate cancer is mainly caused by the failure of patients to receive timely treatment in the early stages of prostatitis. After contracting prostate cancer, the patient's normal urinary system will be seriously damaged. However, prostate cancer also has different degrees of severity, and different treatment methods should be adopted for different degrees of prostate cancer. The following is a specific introduction to the staging standards of prostate cancer for male friends.

The staging standard for prostate cancer is based on the TNM staging system jointly developed by the International Union Against Cancer and the American Cancer Society. It has been updated to the eighth edition in 2017. The TNM staging system stages tumors according to primary tumors, regional lymph nodes, and distant metastases. The primary tumor is represented by T. Stage T1 refers to prostate tumors that are not found during examination. Stage T2 refers to tumors confined to the prostate capsule. Stage T3 refers to tumors that have exceeded the prostate capsule or invaded the seminal vesicles but have not invaded other organs. Stage T4 refers to tumors that have invaded other surrounding organs. Regional lymph nodes are represented by N. Stage N0 refers to no lymph node metastasis, and stage N1 refers to lymph node metastasis. Distant is represented by M. M0 refers to no distant metastasis, and M1 refers to distant metastasis.

Prostate cancer is generally divided into early, middle and late stages. Obviously, early detection and active treatment are more meaningful and the patient's survival time is longer. Once it reaches the middle and late stages, especially when cancer cells spread to the bones, the treatment effect is much worse.

The incidence of latent prostate cancer is very high and has become the most common tumor in the human body. The incidence of latent cancer found by autopsy in different countries is only 2.4 times different. According to reports, the highest incidence is in North America, 29% for 50-59 years old, 30% for 60-69 years old, 40% for 70-79 years old, and 67% for 80-89 years old; China has the lowest incidence, with a latent cancer incidence of 25% for people over 70 years old.
