Everyone knows their urine well, because the color of urine is often slightly yellow, and sometimes it looks like it is transparent. Under this premise, the color of urine often represents a relatively healthy body. However, sometimes some men find that their urine has turned red, which is very scary. So, what is the reason for men's red urine? Once the urine turns red, people think it is hematuria and become very nervous. Experts say that red urine is not necessarily hematuria. In fact, there are many reasons that can cause red urine. Let's take a look at the reasons for red urine. What is hematuria? Hematuria refers to a state in which the red blood cells in the urine exceed a certain level. The reason why we emphasize "exceed a certain level" is mainly because red blood cells can also appear in the urine of healthy people. Hematuria is divided into painful hematuria and painless hematuria according to the accompanying symptoms. Painless hematuria should attract more attention than painful hematuria because it is often an early signal of urinary system tumors. Red urine is not necessarily hematuria, and can be seen in the following situations: (1) Red urine caused by porphyria: After the urine is left or exposed to the sun, it turns reddish brown or wine-colored, uniform and not turbid, with no red blood cells under microscopic examination, negative benzidine test, and positive urine porphyrogen test. This is seen in pyrrolidone metabolism disorder or lead poisoning. (2) Red urine caused by contact with or oral administration of the following substances: red urine, no red blood cells in urine sediment microscopy, and negative benzidine test. There is often a history of medication or contact. For example: rifampicin, amitraz, santolin, sweet or rhubarb (in alkaline urine), as well as aniline dyes, anthocyanins, bile pigments, black berries, congo red, eosin, homogentisic acid, phenol peptide red, sulfonamide, sulfamethoxazole, etc. (3) Hemoglobinuria or myoglobinuria: The urine is uniformly dark red or soy sauce-colored and de-aerated after shaking. No red blood cells are found under microscopic examination. A positive benzidine test is often seen in diseases such as hemolytic anemia, erroneous blood transfusion, crush injury, large-area burns, malaria, and rhabdomyolysis syndrome. It is rarely caused by the following chemicals, such as arsenic trichloride, phenol, carbon monoxide, chloroform, oxalic acid, potassium chlorate, malaria quinoline, quinine, sulfonamide, broad bean, snake venom, etc. Warm reminder that hematuria is often a symptom of a disease. When symptoms of hematuria occur, male friends should treat it correctly, go to a regular hospital in time to find out the cause, and actively receive treatment after being diagnosed with the disease to avoid putting too much mental pressure on themselves. |
