What is the reason for blood in semen?

Ejaculation bleeding is a disease name in traditional Chinese medicine. It refers to the kidney disease caused by the damage of the blood vessels in the sperm chamber and the blood overflowing from the veins due to heat entering the sperm chamber and insufficient spleen and kidney qi. The clinical symptoms are light pink, bright red, reddish brown or bloody semen. Western medicine calls it seminal vesiculitis. The prognosis of this disease is good, and most people can recover with timely and accurate treatment. Chronic seminal vesiculitis is prone to recurrence, causing erectile dysfunction, anejaculation, etc., and is accompanied by the appearance of a series of mental symptoms.

There are five key causes of the disease:

(1) Exogenous wind-cold, cold-dampness, heat-toxicity or damp-cold, which are stagnant and turn into heat. The cold-dampness, fire-toxicity evil flows through the meridians and disturbs the sperm chamber, damaging the blood vessels in the sperm chamber. The heat forces the blood circulation and causes the essence and qi to be discharged.

(2) Dietary combinations that damage the intestines and stomach, cause weakness of the constitution, and result in the inability to absorb blood; or excessive consumption of spicy food, high-fat and oily foods, which can cause cold, dampness, heat and toxins inside the body, and heat that disturbs the sperm chamber, can all lead to ejaculation bleeding.

(3) Being greedy and having excessive sexual intercourse can lead to kidney deficiency and sperm deficiency, which can cause the kidneys to lose their essence and seal the sperm and cause the sperm to malfunction. Or, kidney essence is insufficient, and yin deficiency and fire are excessive, causing deficiency heat to disturb the sperm chamber and cause bleeding during ejaculation.

(4) Surgery or trauma to the private parts can damage the blood vessels in the sperm chamber, causing blood to not return to the menstrual cavity and overflow into the sperm chamber, causing the semen and qi to mix and flow out. (5) Male reproductive organ diseases are difficult to cure over time, causing the disease to affect the menstrual cavity over time, causing qi and blood stagnation, blood circulation to be blocked, and conduction to the sperm ducts, causing semen to combine with blood stasis and cause the disease.

Syndrome differentiation and treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the key to ejaculation bleeding is heat disturbing the sperm chamber, blood overflowing due to rupture of the caul, or spleen and kidney deficiency, and qi not taking blood. The key location of the disease is the damage of the blood vessels in the lower jiao sperm chamber. The location of ejaculation bleeding is in the lower jiao sperm chamber. Regardless of the cause of the damage to the sperm chamber blood vessels, ejaculation bleeding can occur. If the qi is not held firmly, the blood overflows the veins, and the essence and qi are intertwined. During sexual intercourse, the blood is discharged with the sperm, and ejaculation bleeding is also seen. The disease can be divided into real and virtual. The real evidence research often sees the evil of cold, dampness, fire and poison forcing the blood to run wildly or the blood stasis and conduction obstruction, and the blood does not return to the meridians. Deficiency syndrome often sees spleen and kidney deficiency, qi deficiency cannot take blood, and blood overflows the veins. The key points of syndrome differentiation and treatment are the three aspects of fire forcing blood, qi deficiency and inability to control, and blood stasis and obstruction of blood conduction.
