So under normal circumstances, what should be the range of men's total sperm motility?

What is the normal total sperm motility?

What is the normal total sperm motility? With the continuous changes in people's lifestyles, male infertility has been increasing in recent years, which has also brought about great social problems. Many friends are concerned about the total sperm motility problem related to male infertility, and they all want to know what the normal total sperm motility is. For this reason, the number of medical institutions doing knowledge promotion and popularization activities in this regard is increasing, which is very helpful for everyone to understand this issue.

Total sperm motility refers to the percentage of sperm in semen that move forward. Normal fertility should have more than 70% active sperm. If the active sperm is less than 50%, it is abnormal, that is, the sperm moving forward (grades a and b) in the semen parameters is less than 50% or the sperm moving in grade a is less than 25%. At the same time, the normal sperm concentration is at least 20 million per ml (20x106ml). The color should be uniform grayish white; the semen volume should be more than 2.0ml; the pH value should be 7.2~8.0. The sperm concentration should be more than 20×106/ml. Sperm motility should be more than 75% active. Sperm motility: generally divided into four levels: Grade a: fast forward; Grade b: slow forward. Grade c: swinging in place. Grade d: motionless.

If the total sperm motility is above 50%, it belongs to grade a and b. Sperm liquefaction time: The semen just taken out is in a gel state, but it will completely liquefy within 60 minutes at room temperature. Incomplete liquefaction will affect the activity of sperm. Low sperm motility can directly affect male fertility. Under normal circumstances, after the semen is liquefied, a certain proportion of sperm have the ability to swim forward quickly. If the movement of sperm is affected by some reason, especially the inability to swim forward, it will cause the sperm to be unable to combine with the egg at the best time, and conception cannot be carried out. At the same time, when treating low sperm motility, due to many factors, it is very important to find the cause of infertility in all aspects and treat it according to individual physical characteristics, disease characteristics, living environment, genetics, immunity, psychology and other factors. If sperm motility is very poor, in vitro fertilization can be considered to assist pregnancy.

Total sperm motility is a very important evaluation indicator in the treatment of male infertility. It is an important examination that cannot be ignored in the treatment of male infertility. For this reason, male infertility doctors will often pay attention to this examination of patients to estimate the true effect of clinical treatment. The majority of male infertility patients should also understand this examination.
