Why is there less and less semen in men?

Some men seem to be physically strong, but they still suffer from infertility. Why? Have you ever observed your sperm after ejaculation? Is the color of your sperm normal? Is the amount normal? Is the taste normal? Oligospermia is a major cause of male infertility. So, why are your sperm becoming less and less?

Excessive or inappropriate sexual activity

Although the testicles can produce tens to hundreds of millions of sperm every day, it takes 5 to 7 days for the sperm to mature and reach a sufficient number after one ejaculation. If you have sex too often or without restraint, the amount of sperm ejaculated each time is small, and it is naturally difficult to conceive. In addition, intermittent sex, masturbation, or prolonged sex can lead to aseptic prostatitis, which directly affects the nutritional content of semen and sperm motility, causing infertility.

Improper diet

Nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin A deficiency, can lead to the failure of spermatogenic epithelium to grow; vitamin B deficiency can affect pituitary function and reduce fertility; vitamin C plays an important role in preventing semen coagulation and maintaining sperm motility; vitamin E deficiency can cause testicular damage;

Warm environment damages testicles

Long-term high-temperature work, hot water baths, and long-term wearing of tight pants will cause obstacles to the scrotum's function of regulating temperature. The testicle is the organ that produces sperm. During the spermatogenesis process, the testicle requires a temperature of 35.5℃ to 36.5℃, which is 1 to 1.5℃ lower than normal body temperature.

Smoking and drinking

For those who smoke 30 cigarettes a day, the sperm survival rate is only 49%. The secretion of male hormones in smokers is 16% to 47% less than that of non-smokers, which reduces the ability to produce sperm accordingly. Long-term alcohol abuse can damage the spermatogenic cells in the testicles and affect sperm production.

If we can understand or overcome these bad habits in our daily lives, we can at least reduce or avoid the occurrence of male infertility.

<<:  Teach you how to check the quality of semen yourself. If it is too thin and transparent, it means there are too few sperm.

>>:  If you don't take good care of your sperm, it will be crooked and cracked.
