Urethral stenosis is a common urinary system disease, which is more common in men. Generally speaking, urethral stenosis can easily lead to urinary tract infection or inflammation. Suffering from urethral stenosis can easily lead to dysuria, and it can also easily lead to urinary incontinence or urinary retention, which is very bad for the body.
The symptoms of urethral stenosis may vary according to its degree, scope and development process: 1) dysuria, progressive urination difficulty, thin urine flow, sometimes interrupted urination, dribbling urination, or even inability to urinate; 2) urinary retention; 3) urinary incontinence; 4) long-term dysuria causes pathological changes in the upper urinary tract, kidney hydrops, kidney atrophy, and renal insufficiency. 5) sexual function status: whether the penis can erect; 6) anal defecation status, whether there is urination or defecation in abnormal locations. The main symptom is dysuria. Initially, urination is labored, urination time is prolonged, and urine is bifurcated. Gradually, the urine stream becomes thinner, the range becomes shorter, and even drips. When the detrusor contracts and cannot overcome the resistance of the urethra, residual urine increases and even overflow incontinence or urinary retention occurs. Urethral stricture is often accompanied by chronic urethritis. At this time, there is often a small amount of purulent secretions at the external urethral opening, which is often found in the morning. The urethral opening is closed by 1 or 2 drops of secretions, which is called "morning drip". The urethra proximal to the stricture is dilated, which is prone to repeated urinary tract infections, periurethral abscesses, urethral fistulas, prostatitis, and epididymal hair due to urine retention and infection. The obstruction then causes hydroureteral effusion and recurrent urinary tract infections, which eventually lead to renal dysfunction and even uremia.
Medical history and physical examination 1. Detailed description of urinary tract trauma, infection, catheterization, indwelling urinary catheter, urethral dilatation and surgical history. 1) Traumatic urethral stenosis: history of pelvic fracture, perineal straddle injury, stab wound, firearm injury, or urethral foreign body. 2) Infectious inflammatory urethral stenosis: history of specific or non-specific urinary tract infection, history of gonorrhea or tuberculosis, history of recurrent phimosis or balanitis infection. 3) Urethral stenosis caused by infection of indwelling urinary catheter 4) Iatrogenic urethral stricture: presence or absence of urethral dilatation, cystoscopy, transurethral bladder tumor or prostatectomy, transurethral clamping and lithotomy, etc. 5) Congenital urethral stenosis: urethral valve, congenital urethral stenosis, hypertrophy of the spermatophore
1) Difficulty urinating, progressive difficulty urinating, thinning urine stream, occasional interruptions in urination, dripping urination, or even inability to urinate. 2) Urinary retention 3) Urinary incontinence 4) Long-term dysuria causes pathological changes in the upper urinary tract, including hydronephrosis, renal atrophy, and renal insufficiency. 5) Sexual function status: whether the penis can erect 6) Anal defecation status, whether there is urination or defecation in abnormal locations |
