Circumcision scars

Circumcision scars

Circumcision will indeed leave scars on the skin, but as long as the postoperative care is good, the scar will not be too obvious. Generally speaking, it cannot be seen with the naked eye. If your scar is too obvious or tends to grow larger, you should go to the hospital for a comprehensive andrological examination. This way you can know whether your postoperative recovery is in good condition to avoid delaying treatment time.

Eliminate tension: Since the wound will be a little uncomfortable in the first few days after the operation, some people worry that it will affect their sexual function. This idea is unnecessary. Generally speaking, circumcision will not affect normal sexual function. On the contrary, if you carry a mental burden, it may cause mental sexual dysfunction.

Choose the right time for surgery: If there is an acute infection in the foreskin, surgery is not suitable and should be done after the inflammation subsides; if there is chronic inflammation in the foreskin and it does not heal for a long time, regardless of age, surgery should be done as soon as possible, which is conducive to controlling the inflammation; if the foreskin is too long or phimosis affects sexual life after marriage, or causes infertility, surgery should also be taken. Of course, the best time for surgery is before any secondary lesions occur.

Clean the genitals: Starting from 3 days before the operation, the genitals should be washed with warm water or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution every day. When washing, the foreskin should be turned over to expose the coronal sulcus and thoroughly remove the smegma. However, it should be noted that the foreskin should be restored in time after washing to avoid penile prepuce incarceration.

Postoperative precautions: Avoid getting the dressing wet when urinating after surgery. If the dressing is contaminated by urine, it should be replaced immediately. If you are a married man, you should be aware that the couple must live separately for a period of time after surgery and try to avoid sexual impulses.

1) Technical Principle

Traditional circumcision is performed under anesthesia by making longitudinal incisions on both sides of the middle of the back of the foreskin. The incision is used as the starting point and ends at the frenulum of the foreskin. The excess skin is then removed in a circular shape, thereby restoring the foreskin that was originally too long to cover the penis to a normal length.

2) Suitable and contraindicated populations

① Suitable for the following groups:

a. The foreskin is too long and the foreskin opening is small. Although it can be turned back, it is easy to cause foreskin incarceration.

b. Patients with prepuce that is too long and recurrent foreskin and glans inflammation, but the acute infection has been controlled.

c. Benign foreskin tumor.

② Contraindications: Patients with concurrent foreskin or glans inflammation are temporarily unsuitable for surgery and must wait until the inflammation subsides before undergoing surgery.
