Where is the appendix inflammation in men?

Men and women are similar in the human body structure diagram. If you look at the biology textbooks for junior high and high school, you will clearly see that the structure diagrams we learned in the textbooks are basically the same. Except for the reproductive organs, there is no difference in other organs, including the coccyx. They are all located in the lower right abdomen of the human body, at the end of the cecum. Therefore, you must not think that the male coccyx is different from the female coccyx.

The positional relationship between the root of the coccyx and the cecum is fixed, but the position of the coccyx is variable. The coccyx can follow the cecum as high as below the liver, as low as the pelvic cavity, or even cross the midline to the left abdomen, but most coccyx are located in the right lower abdomen. In addition, the position of the coccyx itself is also variable, and can be in the anterior ileum, posterior ileum, anterior cecum, posterior cecum, inferior cecum, and pelvic positions.

1. Acute appendicitis

(1) Obstruction The coccyx is a long and thin tube that is connected to the cecum at only one end. Once obstructed, secretions may accumulate in the lumen, increasing the internal pressure and compressing the coccyx wall to block distal blood flow. On this basis, bacteria in the lumen can invade the damaged mucosa, which can easily lead to infection.

(2) Infection: The main cause is direct infection caused by bacteria in the coccyx cavity. If the coccyx mucosa is slightly damaged, bacteria will invade the wall of the tube, causing varying degrees of infection.

(3) Other factors believed to be related to the onset of the disease include gastrointestinal dysfunction such as diarrhea and constipation, which causes visceral nerve reflexes, leading to spasms of the coccyx muscles and blood vessels, resulting in stenosis of the coccyx lumen, obstruction of blood supply, damage to the mucosa, and bacterial invasion, leading to acute inflammation.

2. Chronic appendicitis

Clinically, it can be roughly divided into two categories: recurrent appendicitis and chronic appendicitis. The former is mostly caused by the failure to completely remove the residual infection in the lesion during the acute appendicitis attack, and the disease is prolonged and uncured. The latter has no history of acute appendicitis, the symptoms are obscure, and the signs are often inaccurate.

Appendicitis symptoms and location: There is a transitional right lower abdominal pain, which starts in the upper abdomen or umbilical cord for a few hours or 24 hours and is fixed in the right lower abdomen. There is pain when pressing and rebound pain and abdominal muscle tension. Later, there will be fatigue, fever, headache and general discomfort. Generally, it is treated with conservative treatment without surgical treatment.

The coccyx, the site of appendicitis, is a degenerate organ in the human body (the coccyx of herbivores is very developed), about 7-9 cm long and 0.5 cm in diameter, located in the lower right side of the abdomen, inside the cecum, connected to the cecum at the proximal end and closed at the distal end. Since the coccyx cavity is small and it is a blind tube, food residues and feces can easily fall into the cavity, blocking the lumen and causing inflammation. The surface projection is called MacBurney's point, located at the junction of the outer and middle 1/3 of the line connecting the right anterior superior iliac spine to the umbilicus. This point is tender and painful in appendicitis.
